The pendulum eventually swings back, son of witless...I suggest that is what is taking place...The People have had enough and waiting for it has "changed nothing" no matter how much time has been given...At this point it can only be a forward march, as we have slipped back in that time period of change, not advanced..Not Socially, we have not..

Fact check: America's part-time worker problem

http://money.cnn.com/2015/06/09/news/economy/america-involuntary-part-time-worker-problem/

Over 6.6 million Americans work part-time jobs but want full-time jobs. That's much higher than the roughly 4.5 million part-timers before the Great Recession began.

These so-called "involuntary part-time workers" have become ammo for Republicans to fire at Obama's economic recovery.

"So look at what's happened, what this president has done to our economy. We've had a huge shift from full-time work to part-time work," New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a likely presidential candidate, said in New Hampshire in May. Republican presidential candidates Rick Perry and Ted Cruz have made similar comments.

Related: U.S. economy adds 280,000 jobs

But is the part-time problem as bad as Christie makes it sound? The numbers say no.

The problem started before Obama: Part-time jobs actually starting sprouting up during President George W. Bush's term. In Bush's last year, involuntary part-time jobs shot up from 4.8 million to 8 million. So the argument that the part-time problem started under Obama isn't true.

Furthermore, while the number of involuntary part-time workers is still high, their ranks peaked in 2010 and have declined since. There is improvement, albeit slowly.

Here's the context on America's current part-time problem.

Related: Part-time jobs put millions into poverty or close to it

Will it get better? The reason that leaders should worry is that part-time workers tend to be paid less per hour than full-time workers, even if they do the exact same jobs. Part-timers are also far more likely to live in poverty and receive no benefits such as paid sick leave or health care. Some economists describe involuntary part-time work as "hidden unemployment."

The debate now is whether America will ever be able to get more people back into full-time jobs who want them. The San Francisco Federal Reserve added to the fire Monday, publishing a sobering look at part-time workers.

The study warns that the prevalence of involuntary part-time workers might not be entirely due to the recession. Involuntary part-time work "could be intensified" by the Affordable Care Act, President Obama's policy crown jewel. Many big box stores, like Walmart (WMT) and Home Depot (HD), announced last year they would cut health insurance for several thousand part-time workers.

Higher minimum wages may also be playing a role. Employers in the states with high minimum wages -- another Democrat initiative -- tend to rely more on part-time workers, according to the Fed report.

Related: Exclusive: America's part-time economy

Encouraging signs: As bleak as that all sounds, the picture is getting brighter for part-time workers who want more hours. Here are four reasons why:

1. The number of involuntary part-time workers is down from 9.2 million in 2010 to 6.6 million today.

2. These workers have made up 4.7% of all employed people over the last 12 months. That's below the average of the last five years -- 5.5%.

3. The ACA mandate that Republicans said would increase part-time jobs has not had a major impact so far. The involuntary worker population is actually down slightly from where it was when the mandate began in January.

4. The San Francisco Fed points out that many factors affecting part-time workers are temporary, meaning the numbers should go down more in the coming months.

Related: I'm stuck in a 'dead end' job

Millions of Americans are stuck in part-time jobs when they want full-time work. It's one part of the economy that hasn't rebounded enough, although presidential candidates need to have the full context.

OMG~~BUSH again?? Reallly????????????????????????? Almost 8 yrs later and its still BUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH???

Ammo for the Republicans?? Are you serious, that ammo dear is FACT..Part time jobs, with no benefits, that pay minimum wage, allows no spending growth into the economy and has then been forced to have that BO care that has caused many to go out of business or for sure, to get the heck out of the medical field because of the sky rocketing malpractice insurance and scheduled rates that bankrupt the Drs...What is left is a bunch of low level, first year Dr's who haven't even come out of their diapers yet...Experience has been replaced with baby quacks and or little to no emergency care at hospitals anymore...

Check the wage index of all these jobs created and tell me its ohhh so much better.....

Sure as hell hasn't happened with this administration that is for sure........Our country is being held together by the boot straps of our soldiers and a dysfunctional President who has not a clue...

The US was in a near-depression-the worse since 29. We're lucky recovery did not take decades. Economists predicted it would take that long so it really happened faster. the kinds of jobs you are talking about are low-skilled so they will be low wage. The days are screwing on car parts and feeding a family are way over. You just want to be anti-Obama period, like McCain would have done any better.

I shouldn't even be wasting my time. When Hillary gets inaugurated-I don't have nothing to say to you all-suffer by yourselves-because despite this racist ass rightwing portion of the country, I enjoyed the hell out of BHO-POTUS.

No, believe it or not, I do not..I have never had the level of disrespect for any president as I do BO...I tried to objectively find something I could believe about him..I found it~~he's a Muslim, he was placed in position under false pretense..He is anything but for the is Country of ours..

He is the worst in Foreign Affairs we have ever had, has alienated our true allies, disrespect Israel every chance he gets and provides weapons to the terrorist..Did you happen to read two articles now where Homeland Security is even pissed at that POS for ordering destruction of years of paper work and intell on Muslim terrorist, ISIS, ISIS?? Well he has, and WHY?? Why would he strip our records of the very terrorist we are trying to keep at bay???

Why has he ordered and done away with so many fine standing Generals that had stellar performance that got them where they were until "BO " came on board???

How in the hell did that junior Senator wind up President and what exactly are his major accomplishments you keep bringing up but never define??

No, Dem, I do not hate the man, I damn detest what he HAS NOT done for this COUNTRY........Or its people, that is what I hate!!!!!!!!!

Be glad it was Obama and not Romney, else you'd for absolute sure have Clinton next. At least right now, there is a chance she won't get elected.

But you CAN thank Romney for Obama. Carl Rove too, that slime!

You're preaching to the choir, E..I have said the very same thing in any number of posts..Slightly different in words but the same message..

This stonewalling in the finest Nixon tradition by BOTH (once known parties) accomplishes nothing and never will if we don't find compromise in the disputed issues and work together to get it done...At this rate, nothing gets done and is the demise of this great Nation..

As for the in-coming President the last two elections I felt it was a vote for the lessor of the two evils...This one at least has some viability IMHO..And yes, regardless of who it is we're screwed for years to come trying to undo so much that has been wrong for so many years....We didn't get this "screwed up in a few years, and we won't get out of it in a few years either...

You have a good weekend too~~
