8th chapter of Matthew
Forward
That completes the Sermon on the Mount. Even though Jesus preached this 2,000 years ago the words make more sense than anything taught is Sunday schools or pulpits today. I think the only reason the words from the sermon arent taught is that satan has deceived us.
Verse 1
Jesus has said more than a mouthful; He will be finished in 3 ½ years so He doesnt have time to waste.
Verse 2
Leprosy is one of the few diseases mentioned in the torah where you must be examined by a priest. How might the leper feel inside and why would he ask the question that way? Lepers were thought to be infectious and couldnt live with normal people. They were outcasts and whenever they saw any who was uninfected the had to audibly warn the person that they were unclean. They cant even touch their mother or children. This person is enduring this existence and then he sees Jesus, whose gift of healing is well known. Perhaps he has a moment of introspect and realizes that all his life he has lived a miserable, trifling, and selfish existence. He doesnt deserve the healing he needs. None of us deserve anything from God. None of us are better than anyone else. Satan has been deceiving people to look down on others for thousands of years. All he can say is, if you are willing, you can make me whole
Verse 3
Jesus knows what the man is going through and simply heals him. Everything satan is doing to deceive the minds of man will accomplish nothing. I forgot. He is criminally insane and thinks stealing, killing, and destroying accomplishes something. Our salvation is not based on Jesus plus anything else but Jesus only.
Verse 4
This is written in old testament law.
Verse 5
Jesus had a house in Capernaum but everyone has heard of his fame for healing. A centurion was a Roman officer in charge of men. He was not Jewish.
Verse 6 through 13
This man heard about Christ ability to heal and believed on Jesus based on hearsay. Gods own children crucified Christ. Read the first chapter of John, the eleventh and twelfth verses.
Verse 14 and 15
At its beginning the Catholic church wouldnt let priest marry. I dont know if this foolishness is still going on but it is not, never was, and will never be biblical. This miracle is in three of the four gospels. Peter was married and Jesus knew it. This may be a reason priest are having sex with male children. It is not good that man should be without a wife. When you look at their actions historically the Catholic Church has more in common with the Sanhedrin that had Jesus crucified and persecuted the Disciples of Christ than they do with Jesus and the apostles.
Verse 16 and 17
Read the 53rd chapter of Isaiah. When I read it translated in a Greens Interlinear I cried.
Verse 18 through 22
From the mouth of Christ (if you follow Him) you should expect not to fit in with the world. You will not be popular. There will never be a perfect time and there will always be a reason to delay. Do your best to follow Christ wherever the road leads.
Verse 23 through 27
It is a biblical that the more witnesses, the truer the fact. This is one of the miracles mentioned in three of the four gospels. They were separate acts but each time Jesus calmed a stormy sea and faulted the disciples lack of faith. What we can learn from this is as a follower of Christ you will find yourself going thru tribulation and it is going to seem like you are all alone. Jesus will calm the storm but your faith will be questioned. We should know that if we have Christ then we arent going to die. If Christ is on the boat then it will not sink.
Verse 28 through 34
The miracles are similar but there is a difference between Matthew and Mark and Luke. In Matthew they are in the country of the Gergesenes, but in Mark and Luke it is the country of the Gadarenes. Also in Matthew there are two possessed men but in Mark and Luke it is just one man with a legion of demons. A Roman legion may have consisted of 6,000 men. God is trying to tell us something but I dont know what it is. Either way the pigs getting possessed after the demons beg for mercy is in all three gospels. What we should consider is the fact that there are demons roaming an area without a host. In all three gospels Christ is asked to leave town and complies. The devils werent cast into outer darkness. These towns still have a problem.

IMO verse 14 and 15 have nothing to do with the Catholic Church or marriage. It is about faith in Jesus and his love for Peter and his family. They were devoted to him. In verse 29 the point is that the demons knew who Jesus is. They called him " the son of God". They knew that it would come a time that they would be tortured but that time had not come yet. That's why they knew he would allow them into the plugs. The men of this area used demon possessed men as Mystics. They made money with their supposed powers. They didn't want to lose their easy money. This is my opinion of these verses.

The Catholic Church forbid it's priests to marry. These verses prove Peter was married.

Are you saying that Peter was a priest? There has never been a question as to Peter being married, as far as I have ever heard.

I don't know how the Catholic Church is considered Christian. Jesus says you know a tree by it's fruit. The actions of the Catholic Church have more in common with the Sanhedrin than Christ and the disciples.

I have to agree on this, in Acts, the followers were known as Christians. It got changed to the Roman Catholic Church some where along the way, even though the bible says otherwise in Acts. When you ask someone their denomination they will say Methodist, jehovas witness, etc. BTW since the Vatican is the richest nation in the world, why aren't they pouring this wealth onto the poor countries, the take at the mass tithes offering but rarely give back in proportion.

"Jesus knows what the man is going through and simply heals him." No sermon needed to get a thin bologna sandwich at a Christian "salvation center." No sermon needed to any of the "least of these." Just give, and allow the grace of God to do the rest. Needs first. Attend lovingly to needs. That's it! Witnessing is selfless giving.
