Elwood-Do you think they might be confused ? I see where global warming is occurring in Maine. Yesterday it was minus 10 degrees and today it warmed up to minus 5 degrees. The people of Maine have to be very careful not to burn Coal or use Diesel fuel as it could cause further warming. PS. Maybe Obama should issue an Executive Order to ban temperatures from rising above 32 degrees. Good Luck America !!!

Sea levels have been rising ever since the last ice age ended about 10,000 years ago. But the rate is so slow it's almost unmeasurable, well within the margin of error. Even the "endangered" South Pacific islands don't show measurable sea level rise. Rising sea levels because of global warming (which isn't happening anyway) is just a part of the silly scare of the hoaxers.

AlGore has been trying very hard to push global warming and trying to push the Obama try to take fossil fuel from us. Of course, AlGore has been living in an over 8000 sq. ft. house and flying the jet all over the world for speeches about global warming. Surely there will come a day when he and others of the group will see the real truth. AlGore has made a very big fortune pushing that pile of Pelosi.

Elwood, and the rest of you worried people..

Headline is not quite correct..

What the article says, if you actually read it is that due to water absorbed by the parched earth, from the hotter and drier climate. The RATE of INCREASE in sea-level is slowed by about 22%...

The affects of GW are many and some, To me, are unexpected.

Lots and lots of material for you to browse but this is small part of one article... Yes, from Salon...

In fact, a recent study published in the “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences” argues that one can draw a fairly straight line of causation from climate change to the outbreak of the Syrian civil war, due to a record-breaking 2007-2010 drought in Syria that resulted in “widespread crop failure and a mass migration of farming families to urban centers.” And the Syrian civil war is what enabled the Islamic State to consolidate its forces and eventually emerge as the largest and most powerful terrorist organization in human history. So we already have at least one instance of climate change multiplying the number of conflicts in the world. Just imagine what the situation will be like in 50 years, when the severe and pervasive consequences listed above are in full force.

How come the other planets are also warming up?...If you were to melt the entire Antarctica Sea ice mass, there would be no rise in sea level. Why? Just melt an ice cube in water and see for yourself...And these characters are suppose to be scientists? Yes, just like Al Gore.

agreed.other planets are warming because of the SUN and ice melts and very little change in level. it,s called displacement.lol

Fine answer to permafrost if that is who you were writing to. It is so obvious that melting icebergs will never cause the rising of the oceans on sea coasts and you explained how so well. Are those people who are pushing global warming as a reason for anything else really well enough informed to speak about global flooding or are they just wanting to push conservatives over the edge of reality?

I've lived on the coast 34 years in N.C.. The tides go in, the tides go out, but the shore line is at the same spot, it has always been. If the ice at the north pole was melting, surely it would raise my shore line a bit. What a bunch of crap global warming is. All the fishing trawlers anchorl at the same moorings also.

Sisu,

Other planets warming up? I have heard that refuted but do not have it in my file.... Maybe later..

The ice cubes/ice bergs analogy?.... You miss the point.. Greenland and Antarctic ice mass is mostly over land not water. So even if your statement is correct, it has no bearing on the issue of ice fields melting...

All this is pointless, nearly every thing has been pointed out on OPP a number of times and you and your henchmen will never accept the facts. So to hell with you. The world is moving ahead and you will gain the beanies even if you do not agree..

to quote the Bulletin’s announcement itself, “The elections of more climate-friendly governments in Canada and Australia are … encouraging, but must be seen against … the continued intransigence of the Republican Party in the United States, which stands alone in the world in failing to acknowledge even that human-caused climate change is a problem” (italics added).
