In a nutshell the answer is yes. I realize that in any organization there are some who are dishonest, the same is true of government but to believe there is some great conspiricy of tens of thousands of public health careemployees to somehow arbitrarily lock people in mental institutions is ludicrous.

Having worked with many government officials, I agree that individually they are good people just trying to do an honest day's work. However, collectively, the bureaucracy is riddled with problems.. most of which start at the top. In order to maintain their jobs, most bureaucrats just follow orders from above. I have seen many do very unconstitutional things... not out of malice, but because that is the parameters they were ordered to follow. It isn't the poor guys in the working ranks that are generally the problem.

I totally agree. Most are decent people, but when ordered by a "superior" to do thus and so, the employee has to weigh his job against his conscience and his principles......THAT is what is wrong with huge bureaucracies such as our government has become.

Kevyn's mind is completely gone. Obama could sacrifice a baby in front of the White house, on national TV, and he would still sing his praises.

I agree with your assessment of most employees in government. I was, after all, married for 42 years to a government employee...........who was fed up with the idiocy in some of his "superiors". He was loyal to America, and he did the best he could, but the idiocy among some in the upper echelons was seriously ridiculous. Their men could sometimes talk them out of something silly, sometimes could not. When push comes to shove, too many are unable to push back, and bad things happen. It requires no conspiracy. It only requires someone with enough authority to create humongous disasters. Surely you know that. Surely you do not sanction RANK overriding honesty and care when American citizens can be prevented from exercising their RIGHTS outlined in the US CONSTITUTION because ONE or TWO people think it is OK. If you DO sanction this, you are denigrating ALL RIGHTS Americans are entitled to.

Almost all Americans over 65 are enrolled in Medicare add to that the number of people served by the VA and receiving care through Medicade and there are already many millions of Americans who's health care including mental health care the government has a role in. It has been this way for many decades.

For once I agree with you, since I am under medicare and the VA. I worry about saying anything to my doctors that may be a reason to take my guns away, though.

I may have a way to stop the constant barrage of governmental nosiness into every aspect of our lives. I would suggest that every American :
1. Send an email every day to your CONGRESS critters, to the PRESIDENT, and to to the CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT, describing your agenda for the day.
2. Send a sample of your urine and bowel movements once a month to above said "leaders". They are so interested in our well-being, they should appreciate not having to have our doctors tell our secrets to them.......let them find out first hand.
3. Send a list of your complaints to the above "leaders" about every issue of the day that disturbs you. If you need to send more than one email to them every day, feel free to.
4. Send by email or snail mail to the "leaders" your menus for every month, whether or not you eat same.
5 Let your agenda for each week to above "leaders" so they can keep a closer eye on you.......don't feel you must abide by said agenda.
6. If you have favorite hymns, poems, pictures, books, send a copy to your "leaders". They need to know the real "us".
7. By all means, let those leaders know how you are doing, and remember to ask how they are doing.

If government officials can nose around in OUR business as much as they obviously choose to, then I believe we should help them out so that they don't have to force our doctors and nurses to leak private information about us to them. Let's keep them apprised of our every illness, every dental visit, every doctor visit, every pharmacy refill, every cold we get, etc. If there is something we don't want them to know, we don't have to include that because, after all, OUR health isn't really any of their business.

Have a grand day, sir. I so appreciate your service to our country. I have a special place in my heart for Marines.....my deceased hubby was a Marine.......they cannot be beat!

Diagnosis and treatment for mental illness doesn't consist of mind control. There are currently diagnosis criteria for mental illness as there are for other diseases they are determined by groups of health care providers. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is the most common reference for determining as you put it "what is mentally sound vs insane" it is not produced by the government.

But in the hands of this particular administration there is a great expectation of incompetence and false accusations.

Our government should have no role in mental health screening, especially with regard to treatment. The track record of government shows that they are ineffective and over-zealous. They have shown that they will find a way to either tax or make a profit on anything they become involved with. The Federal government is already "drunk with power" over people (including the USSC), to give them even more power is ludicrous as well as dangerous. They already use the 10th amendment to manipulate situations to their advantage. They screwed up health care, energy, etc. They could screw up a solid steel ball.

I guess that you have not been is a government office for a extended length of time. I have watched government employees at their desks, just looking around, getting up to talk with others in that office laughing and not seeming to accomplish any given task for any length of time. I have seen that many times while I was in their offices do remodeling of their areas. That was in Federal buildings and many times over a span of about five years.
As far as them having the sole discretion over whether people are mentally unstable, I would leave it up to a Dr. that is not employed by the government that can control its employees by many methods of coercion.

Are you saying you favor government controlling people's minds, thoughts, and behavior and DETERMINING WHAT IS MENTALLY SOUND VS WHAT IS INSANE?

You are talking about Kevin don't confuse him with an intelligent life form.

I feel this is just more of Obama's War on Firearms ploys. If someone is even slightly found to have any kind of so called mental issue they won't pass Obamas Background Check. So just say someone is like me, I will not fly if I can't drive there I wont go. That is a phobia I have. I flew all over the place while in the Army but was a nervous wreck all the while.

Is that paranoia of sorts?

Maybe so but is that a reason to say I can't purchase a firearm? I do believe it could be misconstrued into that.

I do not trust that SOB at all and if you don't like me calling him a SOB Kevin then you sure as hell wont like the next adjective I have for him.

On January 26, 2016, an agency known as the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force issued final recommendations suggesting that all Americans be subject to mental health screenings. The report implies that regular screenings through an individuals primary care doctor would be ideal and the most beneficial in detecting symptoms related to depression.

Americans should be alarmed at the prospect of forced mental health screenings because mental health issues are used as a means of gaining coercive control over those that oppose state goals. In fact, the field of mental health itself is communist in origin and seeks to dominate human behavior with the goal of conditioning people to accept servitude. Consider the following quote from G. Brock Chisholm, psychiatrist and co-founder of the World Federation of Mental Health.

I must say that I disagree with the comment that mental health is communist in origin and seeks to dominate human behavior. I could be wrong, but I do see mental health as important, but NONE OF GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS IN ANY RESPECT.
