Ahhhhh Yes ! Rob... Yes... I love you guys... Brilliant !

Factual and leaves no room for Assholes like Peter the Muslim Transplant to insert.

The very essence you placed here is the reason we will fight to preserve our founding Christian Principles.

Not XYZ principles !

Thank You and God Bless.

Loki, Check out Supreme Court decisions!
Loki wrote:
Actually, the First Amendment restricts government from meddling in religion. If you read it, it places no such restrictions on religion in government.
You have to realize that at the time the First Amendment was ratified, the US was overwhelmingly Christian. The founders could not have possibly envisioned a nation like today, where the majority of our immigrants come from Mexico and Central America, rather than Europe, as was the case until LBJ and Ted Kennedy put together the immigration laws of the mid 1960s.
52 of the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 identified as either Catholic or Protestant. Those who claim the majority were Deists are mistaken. Many were of a bent called "Anti-Clerical Christian," who were Christians who rejected the need for Clergy and Churches. In the 18th Century, organized Christianity, especially the French and Spanish Catholic Church, and to a lesser degree, the Church of England, were more political than religious institutions, exerting an incredible amount of influence on secular governments. The Anti-Clerical Christians rejected this notion in favor of keeping religious organizations, if not religion, out of government, having seen the results of a powerful church and clergy.
Actually, the First Amendment restricts government... (show quote)

America's Christian History

America's heritage is built up on the principles of the Christian religion.

Christianity is written on every page of America's amazing history.

Gary DeMar presents well-documented facts which will change your perspective about what it means to be a Christian in America; the truth about America's Christian past as it relates to Supreme Court justices and presidents; the Christian character of colonial charters, state constitutions and the U.S. Constitution; the Christian foundation of colleges; the Christian character of Washington, D.C.; the origin of Thanksgiving; and so much more.

Three appendixes have been added that further emphasize Christianity's positive influence on America. Additional information includes "Deism and the Founding of America" and also "Jesus Christ and the Founding of America." This is an indispensable book which is needed in a time when even "under God" is coming under fire.

Read more about America's Christian History.

From the founding of the colonies to the declaration of the Supreme Court, America's heritage is built up on the principles of the Christian religion. And yet the secularists are dismantling this foundation brick by brick, attempting to deny the very core of our national life.

You weigh the evidence. Consider the following facts which are being systematically erased from our nation's memory:

In 1892, the Supreme Court of the United States declared, "This is a Christian nation."

During the War for Independence, Congress resolved to import 20,000 volumes of the Bible because "the use of the Bible is so universal, and its importance so great."

The New England Confederation stated that the purpose of the colonies was "to advance the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ and to enjoy the liberties of the gospel in purity with peace."

Harvard College required that each student believe that "the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life."

John Adams wrote, "The Christian religion is...the Religion of Wisdom, Virtue, Equity, and humanity."

Engraved on the metal cap on the top of the Washington Monument are the words "Praise be to God."

Louie, The meaning of the First Amendment is clear. The Congress shall MAKE NO LAW respecting the establishment of a religion, or impeding the free exercise of religion, etc. In Everson v Board of Education (1947) the court called for " a wall go separation between church and state " as Thomas Jefferson called for. This separation is what gives us freedom of religion. For those that disagree with the First Amendment, I suggest a vacation to The Islamic Republic of Iran to check out what society might look like without freedom of religion. This amendment is one of the great things about America, lets not screw it up!

That 1947 decision was by Judge Black and his interpretation of the first amendment. MY interpretation is such that I believe a separation of Church and State was, the State should not interfere with religious beliefs and that the Church should not interfere with State business. That in no way states a wall between the Church and the State. That is just what Jefferson wanted but that was not adopted. I do not disagree with the first amendment, but the interpretation of others, to what the founding fathers meant at that point of time. I believe I am not alone in that line of thinking. The wall was not meant to be a law preventing religious events at schools. If they are held that does not mean that the State believes in any religion. It just means that the people have the right to express their own beliefs and do not intend to force anyone to engage is such activity if it against there will or beliefs. Everyone has that option.

The First Amendment was intended to prevent organized religion from gaining the political power that the Churches in Europe exercised. The Roman Catholic Church's power in both France and Spain rivaled and sometimes exceeded that of the secular government. It was, in effect, a State Religion. You could not become a Spanish subject unless you converted. I believe the same was true of France. The line of separation between Church and State was so blurred it was indistinguishable.
The nonsense about prayer in schools, (legal for most of this country's history ), and religious observances in public places, prayer before Government functions has been a fixture for most of our nation's history, and has only been re-written in the last 50 years or so by activist, Liberal Judges who think they are Congressmen.

I agree with your first sentence and that is as it should be. I see no where in the country where the religious organizations have interfered with the government. They state their positions and do not force anyone to adhere to those statements. This administration, many liberals and the political correct squad want to stop prayer by sports teams that have their coaches pray with them. That is not their job. That is not the government of the school districts job, even if a minority of people want certain proceedings to stop.

The Bible was the only book necessary? What about "The Law of Nations" that all the anti-Cruz posters seem to think is the Bible? What about the works of John Locke, whose beliefs influenced John Adams and Thomas Jefferson AND Ben Franklin? Are you discounting the works also of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, and others? Let's not forget Plutarch, either. Almost all of the Founders were well versed in the sciences of the day, and skilled in mathematics also. Most had well stocked Libraries.

I wasn't the one who remarked the Bible was the only book needed. I was responding to another post. And though I think the Bible is the greatest book ever written, I don't suggest that other books be overlooked. I'm not one who believes that ignorance is bliss.

It's been a rough week. This makes the second time I have misposted. The reply was meant for Rob Mull, not you. Ooops. Too many things going on at once.

Christ cared for the poor. So why is it a problem if our government cares for the poor? Christ said to 'turn the other cheek' yet Christian Conservatives are among the most heavily armed people on earth. And Sici, how many times have you threaten to kill me and my family. For what? Simply having a difference of opinion than you? Is that an edict that Christ instilled in our country--hate for your fellow man? If this is our countries Christian history--what a sad sad state that truly is...

Christ cared for the poor. He wasn't all that fond of the lazy. There is a huge difference between helping those US citizens and legal immigrants who are trying to better themselves and spending nearly 100 billion a year on wetbacks.
Wetbacks represent about 5% of the population, and 30% of the Federal prison population. You don't get sent to Federal prison for traffic tickets.
So much for the "otherwise law-abiding wetback."
