Hello!

I am a Christian mother of two. I love the Lord and my politics are based on my faith. This means that sometimes I cannot help but post the two together. They go together and I am not ashamed of believing in Christ Jesus. Do I think that the Lord is political? No, but I think as Christians we need to pray and be vocal about our hopes for a better moral government based on Biblical values.

I am not a politician. I am a woman that works hard on a small paycheck to make ends meet. I am passionate about American workers and the value of them. I don't take kindly to the idea that Americans are lazy and every company should hire Hispanics because they are better workers. Americans working hard built this country and it is time that politicians quit giving our jobs away for below average wages. It is hard to make ends meet on a $10-$12 dollar wage. I make the same wage I made in 1996 and everything that is necessary to raise a family is doubled. So its offensive when Trump says our wages are too high.

This country and the people who are running it have lost touch with the American people and basic moral values.

Hi Leah - and welcome. It's brutal in here so I hope you are not thin-skinned.

The argument in favor of increased wages is made under the false premise that everything else in the economy remains the same. "If I could only make more per hour," so the argue goes, "then I'd be able to afford all the things my family needs to live." And so we support politicians who promise us a "living wage."

The only problem is that the cost of those items continues to go up as well, and more often than not, at a greater pace than the wage increase itself.

So when is the increased wage enough? Why not just give everyone a $100 an hour wage increase and be done with it. Let's just solve everyone's financial troubles at once.

Because all things being relative, that $100/hour would not be enough to buy the things your family needs when the cost of bread and diapers are inflated to keep up with wage increases. It's the proverbial dog chasing its tail.

The real problem, the problem our politicians try so desperately to conceal from us, is the fact that they have weakened our dollar so badly over time, that a week's worth of groceries today now costs the same as a new automobile did in 1915.

Get to the bottom of THAT conundrum and we'd actually be taking the first steps at fixing our nation's financial woes.
