Jeroboam
He was the first of a list of worthless kings of Israel. His biggest sins reached down for about 200 years until Israel was no more. No king of Israel completely stopped what Jeroboam started. Jeroboam became afraid of losing what God had given Him. He was worried that when his people went to Jerusalem to worship they would want to become a part of Judah. So he put idols in Dan and Bethel and made teachers of Gods word out of shady characters. God made him king but he did other things to make sure he would remain king. In the long run, Jeroboam insured that his bloodline would stop. We should learn from Jeroboams mistakes. Jesus did not say while dying on the cross, I did my best or thats all I can do but it is finished. Churches are teaching that something further needs to be done. They are teaching that you need to be saved, (whatever that means and how do you do that?). They are teaching that we can know God is pleased with us by looking at how successful we are. For further clarity read 1 Timothy 6:5. Jesus paid the price for our eternal souls. You are responsible for your life down here. You can choose any action you desire but cannot choose consequences.
