White House Back Charges Triple Amputee Veteran for Thousands of Dollars

How much lower can this administration get, America wake the hell up damn it and Impeach this Communist Pig ASAP.
And put his White House Mafia in Prison.

Brian Kolfage Jr. is a Senior Airmen, and a triple amputee, who lost his legs and an arm on September 11, 2004, when a 107mm rocket exploded three feet from the Airman. Kolfage flew back into a wall of sandbags, and miraculously survived the blast after eleven months at Walter Reed Medical Center. Now Kolfage is a retired veteran that collects benefits from Veterans Affairs, to compensate him for the wounds he received while serving our country in Iraq.

Until now.

Back in September of this year, Kolfage received notice that his file was under investigation by the VA. After examining his file, the VA determined that Kolfage had been overpaid, each month for several years. Kolfage was accused of fraud and now owed the federal government $4,825. The VA told Kolfage they would withdraw a monthly payment of $105 from his benefits account until the debt was payed off.

Veterans Affairs was under the belief that Kolfage was not married, hence the overpayment. So Brian sent them proof that he had remarried and was assured there would be no charge against his benefits.

“They even sent me a document last month [September] saying everything was reviewed, updated and good to go.”

On October 29th, Kolfage received notice that his balance had been reduced by $105, signifying that the VA had not in fact, forgiven his “debt.”

After several frustrating attempts to contact the VA through the 1-800 number provided in the VA Debt Management Center correspondence, Brian has yet to hear back from anyone about the ongoing reductions in his monthly benefits.

It truly is depressing to see veteran after veteran suffer abuse and harassment under this administration. Veterans Affairs is notorious for having long backlogs and inadequate health care coverage, but they’ve never gone out of their way to target a veteran like this. How was Airman Kolfage supposed to realize that the VA wasn’t doing their jobs? Is this how Obama wants to honor our troops for their service?

With Veterans Day coming up next week we thought it’d be appropriate to take a look at Kolfage’s story. Hopefully we can spread the word of his current battle with Veteran’s Affairs and get this situation straightened out.

This sounds so depressing. However, it depends on when the VA reviewed his documents and if that day was on the 10th of the month, then it was too late to update the system before his next benefit was payable. All those letters are generated by a computer and the computer runs the next benefit payment on a set schedule. Most of the time, when the system is updated (requiring a GS to actually take care of the update before the 10th of each month) his pay should reflect a correction and the underpayment for Oct should be in his December payment.

Trying to work with the government on money owed either way is a nightmare and takes forever to get straight. It's just another example of how big government is a problem.

The tough part is getting another human to recognize that an error was made and then for that human to put it into the system. Looks like this person got the human to do their job because the system printed out a letter but because it was after the computer "run" it was too late for his November payment. For the most part, it is the human who does not know their job, has not read the guidance, or are just plain lazy where the issues lie. I worked for the government (computers) and have run up against the not so shinny bright government employee who worked in Personnel--where most issues lie--and wanted to tear my hair out. At times it was like talking to a mannequin, they simply could not understand what was required. I have hopes that this person will be caught up and if not I hope he realizes that everyone in the government works for someone else and he elevates his problem.
