I'm with you. Hateing refugees is not an American virtue. I do understand people are afraid and with reasons but there are limits. We need to put rhetoric and political posturing aside and get real with the crisis that we had a big part in creating. I would not live some where I was being bombed and shot at unable to find food and shelter so how can I expect someone in that situation to stay put. France announced they are taking in 30,000 Syrians and they were the ones attacked recently.. A "stupid" move or the right thing to do. People say we don't do enough for our own people here but do they ever gripe about doing things for our people here. We need to get our S--T together.

You are clueless about Islam and Muslims too, pal. Clueless!

I'll repeat what I said earlier for your benefit, since you don't seem to get the point either:

This is not xenophobia or lack of compassion for refugees. There is an element here which you are completely ignoring, and that is the element of risk to our country. The fact is that well over half of these "refugees" are male and over half of them are of military age or younger. The government claims it has nearly foolproof vetting measures in place, but anyone with a brain knows that's bullshit. There is no way to vet 10,000 people such that you know that none of them plans to commit a terrorist act. I think it's more than likely that at least one of them will, and one person is all it will take.

I can sympathize with the element of fear, but that same fear has always been here. Fear and hate of someone different, the Chinese, Italians, Irish, Jews, Cubans, Mexicans, Vietnamese all hated and feared for being different. Strangely the Russians did not get treated so bad. A year ago the politicians on the right were complaining that we were not taking in Syrians, now it is just the opposite.

In the 1940s, U.S. officials worried that Nazi agents would pose as refugees to infiltrate countries.

While America, home to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, likes to think of itself as a safe haven for the world's tired, poor, huddled masses, it has also long harbored nasty anti-refugee sentiment driven by stereotypes and fears that people who look different or have unfamiliar traditions aren't quite capable of ever becoming truly American. German Jews, Catholics and Japanese-Americans have all faced this sort of skepticism over the years, as evinced by polling from the time, as well as old news clips and cartoons:
Hating Refugees Is Pretty Much As American As Appl... (show quote)

As well as the indigenous people, the former slaves we imported, the former coolies we imported - anyone not Anglo Saxon.

Americans kill more Americans every day - than any terrorist organization ever has - but we're convinced that the refugees are terrorists in disguise and will - what - kill Americans?

Why is it acceptable for Americans to kill each other, but unacceptable for a foreigner to do it? That's the most stupid example of insane bigotry I've ever seen.

It is either unacceptable for Americans to be raped and murdered, by ANYONE - or it is ok for EVERYONE - we do not pick and choose WHO is authorized to commit such acts.

Only until the left gets a grasp of Islam can we talk logic. If they continue to ignore what Islam is then we cannot discus logically what and how to deal with them. Islam is a political ideology and lifestyle disguised as a religion and is not equal to any ordinary religion known to man.

I am not going to agree at all with this...there are far more people killed all around the world from Islam then here. Do some checking before you make this error!

http://www.statista.com/statistics/195331/number-of-murders-in-the-us-by-state/

We have to add murders in such places such as Africa and other places where gangs roam wide spread and rape and commit genocide....

No one allows murders, by the way...as if you make it like it is a welcome event in the USA....

The attacks last Friday in Paris, France were not the beginning of Republicans’ refusal to acknowledge that we need to be accepting Syrian refugees.

For months, Republicans have been vile in how they’ve been speaking of people trying to flee the grips of a war-torn nation plagued with violence and the extremism of ISIS.

The attacks in Paris have just stirred the pots of bigoted rhetoric, and many in the GOP were quick to use the horror in Paris to justify their hatred of refugees, because they seem to think, with their twisted logic, that the refugees who are fleeing ISIS are also in ISIS. At least that’s what they’re preaching to their base and has been echoed from conservative talking heads. They are terrified of Muslims, all Muslims, and it’s reprehensible.

Completely over the hate speech being spewed from the GOP, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton took to Twitter to point out how horrible they are alongside their blatant hypocrisy.

She wrote:
“

“We’ve seen a lot of hateful rhetoric from the GOP. But the idea that we’d turn away refugees because of religion is a new low.”

It’s ridiculously ironic that the same party who so eagerly wants to shout “religious freedom” whenever they can’t control other people via their religion so quickly turns against other people solely based upon their religion. They don’t want religious freedom for everyone, just themselves.

Unlike her Republican counterparts, Clinton has long stood by accepting Syrian refugees. Even more so than President Obama has indicated.

Like in generations past, refugees have come the United States to seek solace away from strife. The Statue of Liberty says it best as she boasts the poem “The New Colossus“:
“

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
”
The United States is, and forever shall be, the land of opportunity.

Thank you, Madam Secretary.

Are we being asked to do that?

Moldy oldy-why do we not wait until we can ascertain that those coming in do not pose a threat? Here we are, flat broke, borrowing money every month to stay afloat, unable to provide for our own needy and we want to import hundreds of thousands of refugees. Conversely, Kuwait, Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia are awash in oil and wealth and they will not accept their own countrymen or people of similar ethnicity. Once again we are being played for Uncle Sucker. Let the Arab countries take care of Arabs we have enough on our hands taking care of some 20 million illegals already here. It is time for the left to wake up from their reverie. Obama's Middle East policies are the direct cause of all this and now the chicken sh-t little man/child wants to blame others. Good Luck America !!!

The same basically as any other religion. The crazy fundamentalists of all stripes change the teachings to promote their agenda. Whether Christian, Muslim, or Jew it is all fairy tales. If there is a god it is nothing that we can conceive with our limited knowledge.

Why is it you refuse to believe that Islam is primarily a political system, noy just a religion?. for the first few years of Mohammeds life it was a religion, with less than 100 followers, then it became primarily political and has been ever since.
Does this help you understand?

Moldy-Regretfully, Madame Secretary is full of pure unadulterated crap. Christian immigrants are not likely to blow us up while some Muslims will. Why are you buying her BS ? She is an accomplished congenital liar. Are you really that ideological or do you just refuse to accept facts that do not fit the left wing agenda ? Hillary will do anything as long as the oil rich ME countries keep feeding her fake foundation. Why would an ex military man support someone who is crooked as a pretzel and loathes the military ? Wake up man-hope it is not too late. PS. if Hillary is hell bent on accepting refugees lets locate 50,000 of them to Chappaqua, N. Y. and the other 50,000 to the South side of Chicago. Good Luck America !!!
