Thought I'd share a few thoughts about the ongoing soap opera called "Immigration Reform." Perhaps "Fairy Tale" is a more accurate apellation. In the rush to sell this snake oil, Liberals and RINOs alike have truly outdone themselves in the mendacity department. Perhaps they are practicing, because when voters figure out what's really in this bill, most of these Senators will need to turn their efforts to selling used cars.
Where do I begin? How about with "First, we have to secure the border?" Not gonna happen. Even CBS News, hardly a bastion of conservative activists, has reported that illegal border crossings are up 300% IN ANTICIPATION OF AMNESTY. If they plan on securing the border, when do they plan on getting started?
"This only applies to illegals who have been in the country for (pick a number) of years." Just how do they plan on verifying this? There is NO provision for verification in this bill, leaving, I suppose, the alternative of just taking their word for it, ("they" being such a trustworthy bunch and all that).
How about another favorite selling point, that of "Illegals will have to pay back taxes?" Nope. You see, what the bill ACTUALLY says is they have to pay any taxes assessed them by the IRS. Since almost all of them either work under the table or with false IDs, just how is the IRS supposed to assess anything?
Now for my favorite: "Illegals will not be receiving benefits because they are ineligible." To be honest, I agonized over whether to call this one a fairy tale or a bald faced lie, since either one would be accurate. Who in the Hell do they think they are kidding? Most of the 11,000,000 or so illegals in the country already are receiving benefits, eligible or not. Many of them far more than a citizen or a legal immigrant could ever hope for, due to the same exacting system of oversight and verification which enforces all of the previously mentioned whackers. (That means lies, for you non-southwesterners).
Should this bill pass, we can expect to see upwards of 20,000,000 new "immigrants" on our soil in the next 10 years. These are not starry eyed job seekers searching for the "American Dream," they are mostly leeches, whose first actions upon arrival will be gaming the sieve-like system for every freebie they can get. Currently, illegals cost the taxpayers about 84 billion dollars a year. We pay for their education, groceries, anchor babies and legal costs while they send upwards of 56 billion dollars a year back to their home countries. This is with the current number. How do you think that will work if this latest Federal "one size fits all (poorly)" FUBAR legislation becomes law?
Lest we forget: Remember that little piece of work called "Obamacare?" You know, the one where our idiot legislators "passed it so they could find out what's in it?" I have yet to hear ANYONE address the issue of how 20,000,000 plus new "not eligible" recipients will impact this criminal act that was foisted off on us. You can bet that the original bill, just like it's "Affordable Health Care" antecedent, will quintuple in size in jig time, once a bunch of unelected, unaccountable, overpaid, underqualified and impossible to fire Federal apparatchiks start adding their regulatory rockets, further obfuscating the already vague. Since Congress has apparently decided that their job description does not include keeping track of legislation after their Lordly actions make it law, we can look forward to a perfect storm of incomprehensible and contradictory regulations to complement the coming tsumani of illegals this bill will make possible. Beware of the bureaucrats! (on another note, in closing, I do have an observation on "Bureaucrats, uses of:" I used to drive an eighteen wheeler in my younger days. From what I've seen of most bureaucrats, they would serve a far more useful purpose by being employed as mud flaps for my truck.

Thanks for the thumbs up. This legslative drivel (offically, it's called S.744) will be up for debate this coming week. Let your Senator know how you feel. Even though this is probably DOA in the House, Let the Senate know you are watching them.

Thought I'd share a few thoughts about the ongoing... (show quote)

Dear banjojack
First of all please let me start by telling you how much I like your style !!!! It is rear these days for me to stumble accross someone with any real common sense!!! Now for my two cents and please bare with me because I type slow and my spelling isn't the best. I have really been following this whole SO CALLED imagration reform issue and I haven't heard or seen anything that remotely in my wildest imagination comes close to reform. To me it sounds like we're just going to make all the illeagals legal ?? In my mind this is real reform #1) If we allow all these illegals to stay they should not be allowed citizenship for a minamum of 20 years as a penalty for entering our country illeagally!! #2) They would not recieve the full rights of a citizen for another 20 years and why 20 years you might ask?? well I'm getting to that now, the way I see it a natural born citizen has to wait a minamum of 18 years or 19 or 20 depending on when they were born before they are able to vote so why should someone who is a criminal by entering this country illegally get rights before a natural born citizen. This would eliminate the whole bonanza vote factor for the wacked out liberal left. By the way the estamated 11 million is a gross under estamate the real number is more like 20 million right now but the big wigs don't want us to know because it would make it a lot harder for them to ram this through. I have so much more to say but it's so hard when I type so slow so I guess this will have to do for now. HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!

There is no such thing as immigration reform! All they are proposing is to reward criminals for committing crimes....
Just try sneaking into any other country and see what happens?

Unfortunately my two corrupt senators are part of the gangsters of 8, I hope the rest of the citizens of AZ help to end their political careers.

I also have a suggestion for the "Gang of Eight." I would absolutely support changes in the immigration system so that our immigration laws mirror those of Mexico. Contact your Senators and give them a piece of your mind. The bill is called S.744, or just mention the "Gang of Eight."

I have some hope, because this idiocy will probably not makde it through the House. Perhaps my comment about the uses of bureaucrats should also apply to RINOs and Liberals. As I mentioned in another post, I think an equitable solution would be to change our immigration laws so they mirror those of Mexico, and see how both the wetbacks, AND the Mexican Government, (along with their stooges in our Congress) like them apples.

Well now you can come out of hiding as far as your personal information on this forum is concerned. One of your Senators is the smelliest member of the Republican establishment who was also a member of the Gang of 14 that did such great work for the Democrats earlier. Somehow we need to rid Arizona of that crud, McCain before he gets around to admitting his membership in the Democrat party.

I feel sorry for you since both my Senators will always vote against things like this one. They better not vote for this abortive bill if they want to be back again.

What a thread starter, jack. It is so obvious what those in that Senate is trying to do and why they want to do it. How in hell can reform provide amnesty when the law they want to replace provided the first amnesty, but for far fewer people. That one was never enforced other than the amnesty part and would still stop our immigration problems if the fine for employers of illegals were to be charged.

Keep them coming so we can be reminded of what is going on. I just heard a man on Fox mention that Obama has to have this one as one of his legacy laws since he hasn't had many of them lately. Of course, the House will surely blow it out.

oldroy, I truly hope that the House will snuff this exercise in incompetence. They may have to fly in the face of the Speaker, who, apparently, is still in the process of growing himself a pair, along with a backbone to hang them on.
