On August 3, we attended the final service for a wonderful lady 97 years of age. I could go on at great length on our dearly beloved. Our life will be less for not having her a phone call or quick trip, across the river, away.
She, being an organized soul, had completely written out her requests for her services. At both services, the following was recited. The Pastor recited the first phrase and attendees recited the phrase, after the dash, in each sentence.
TodayToday is ours let us live it.
And love is strong let us give it.
A song can help let us sing it.
And peace is dear let us bring it.
The past is gone do not rue it.
Our work is here let us do it
The world is wrong let us right it.
If evil comes let us fight it.
The road is rough let us clear it.
The future is the vast do not fear it.
Is faith asleep let us awaken it!Today is ours let us take it in our hands!
Our hymn was
"Blest Be The Tie That BindsBlest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.
Before our Fathers throne,
We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
Our comforts, and our cares.
We share our mutual woes,
Our mutual burdens bear;
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.
When we asunder part,
It gives us inward pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart,
And hope to meet again.
