Are we really going to continue doing nothing?

Senator Marco Rubio (R) said this week that he had strong concerns about the future of freedom. In an interview with CBN News, Rubio said that freedom of religion and freedom of expression were under assault. “If you think about it,” Rubio said, “we are at the water’s edge of the argument that mainstream Christian teaching is hate speech. Because today we’ve reached the point in our society where if you do not support same-sex marriage, you are labeled a homophobe and a hater.”

“Hate speech” is protected by the First Amendment. But as a recent YouGov poll showed, Americans are willing to change that. 41% of Americans say that speech “that stirs up hatred” against a particular group should be criminalized. We’ve already seen the dam break; dozens of Christian business owners have been prosecuted and sued for refusing to participate in same-sex marriage ceremonies. Baronelle Stutzman, a florist in Washington, was fined more than $1,000 for declining to provide arrangements for a gay wedding. Liberty Ridge Farm in upstate New York was fined $13,000 for refusing to host a lesbian ceremony. Sweet Cakes by Melissa, one of the most prominent cases, is facing a $135,000 judgment for turning away gay business.

“After they are done going after individuals, the next step is to argue that the teachings of mainstream Christianity, the catechism of the Catholic Church is hate speech, and there’s a real and present danger,” Rubio said.

There is a big question mark surrounding what happens if the Supreme Court makes gay marriage the law of the land next month. It will already represent an inaccurate reading of the Constitution and an unprecedented power grab on the part of the federal government. But in practice, it could easily go even further. It could force Christian ministers to perform same-sex weddings. It could eliminate anti-homosexual teachings, even in private schools. It could even inspire lawmakers to make portions of the Bible illegal for public consumption.

Far-fetched? Maybe, but who would have seen what’s happened already? Ignoring the flap in Indiana, liberals have been hard at work for decades, trying to put social and economic pressure on businesses to take all mentions of “Christmas” out of their advertising. They’ve gotten prayer out of public schools. They’ve banned the Ten Commandments from dozens of courthouses. Anyone who doesn’t think that things are going to get worse for American Christians isn’t paying attention.

All of this has an effect. A new Pew Research poll shows that only 70% of Americans identify as Christian. That’s down from 86% in 1990. When people fall away from religion, many of the former believers begin to see it as a hostile influence. That leads them to overlook constitutional protections in favor of laws that will lead to “progress.” Courts begin deciding cases based on loose interpretations of the Bill of Rights. And before you know it, the country we once loved looks totally different.

Rubio’s dystopian nightmare isn’t lurking around the corner; it’s falling around us in a tightening shroud.

It is getting more & more crazy all around us, folks. I don't claim to be "Christian," but Christian ideals & principles are the only ones that make sense if I believe in "Live & Let Live," as a way of life.

The Judean/Christian ethic is what built this country into the greatest ever known. It is now on the fast track to becoming a latter day Rome.

Past, Present, And What Future

What happened to the days when families would sit and share
The times at the dinner table when both parents were there

When you talked about your day and the things you did
The days you'd laugh, joke, play games, and act like a kid

Times when you sat for hours with family and friends
Entertained by each other were the general trends

When a pastor would drop by to encourage and pray
When you memorized scripture that you weren't afraid to say

When the sight of murder made you cringe and sick
When injustice happened you'd scream and kick

When we weren't afraid to fight for what was truly right
When a handshake meant everything, done in plain sight

When police had high standards and citizens showed respect
When a neighbor saw an intruder and helped to protect

When you'd drive and wave with all fingers in the air
When you'd pull over and stop for someone needing a repair

Now the dinner table is a place to decorate, or stack and store
One parent struggling, the other one left only to ignore

No interest to share about the day, but did you just get through
All the complaints and the worthless things we pursue

Now we waste hours in a day on TV, movies, and events
Entertained as a distraction, love and interaction it prevents

Now the mega church pastor has men to keep those at a distance
Try to find anyone who knows more than John 3:16 for instance

Violent murder and mutilation we laugh and are not phased
Instead of justice the violent criminals we let loose and praise

So many now fight for things that aren't morally right
Things that are an evil shame, never spoken in light

Now we agree with a handshake and a wink
You'd better get it on paper with permanent ink

Lowered standards for Law Enforcement and many are corrupt
Respect for authority has become almost extinct and abrupt

Now waving with a single finger as we drive down the street
Won't stop and help, to much traffic to beat

What will it all mean when your world comes to an end
When God asks why, what could you possibly say to defend

It's time to turn off the TV, no more movies and events
You've been hypnotized by the media, you're indentured servants

So many things to expand your knowledge, much isn't true
Filling your head with garbage, destroying the soul in you

Prioritize your life, get rid of all things that consume you
Football, TV, or the casino means what when this life is through

Want to watch something, then look at the big picture screen
It's how you finish this life, which remains to be seen

What real treasure have you stored up in the air
All the world you can gain, but to Him He doesn't care

Think it was a joke, Jesus said to the rich man, "go and sell all…"
The Word says you can't serve God and wealth, because you'll fall

The greatest command is to love God, family, and others
To share the eternal wealth, to make more mothers, sisters, and brothers

What is it you truly want, that which is temporary and possibly cut short
Or listen and make your life count, and the truth from Jesus, He'll exhort

The non-acceptance of same-sex marriage and the LGBT community is hate speech, not faith speech. It is utterly disgusting and loathsome for a person to call themselves Christian and oppose either. That is not following Christ but following worldly norms and tabus.

You base this on what? The Bible is full of prohibitions on homosexual activity. I am curious as to how you arrived at this conclusion.
By the way, hello. I haven't seen anything of you on the political and mud-slinging section lately.

Christ said "kindle the fire", right and wrong are what the Word of God teaches. There is a lot of substance in the book, but the pages don't mean nothing unless you know the code. Five out of seven churches are dead because they don't teach the key of David, as in revelation 2:7-10 and 3:7-10. people need to wake up because many are called but few
are chosen. We are the majority in Christ, so why did we get lost in the latter times? I have to say it's our destiny as we are predistined.
