I would say that the people of this country have made a mockery of themselves. President Obama is correct - no other country has its people tending to their own destructive desires. The gun toting people of this country are shameful with all their prejudices and arriving at their own methods of solving them. Events such as the S.C. attack DO NOT occur in other countries. Answer me. Who should be blamed for inciting such incidences besides the people themselves and their representatives who are more interested in furthering their own concerns.

This country no longer deserves the admiration of the world and that is due to its stupid politicians and hate groups. At one time the majority of the people worked together to produce a strong nation. No longer. Now they are being propagandized into distrusting everyone else. There has always existed the hate groups primarily in the South but I wonder why have the number of hate groups increased? My answer to that is that your own Congress is working hard to keep the people poor. It is they who have destroyed the middle class through the laws regarding banks that they have removed but they always have sufficient money to benefit large industries, in order to line their own pockets. This country was once a Democratic Republic and intentionally has changed to an oligarchy. How did it get that way? Through its representatives ignoring their constituencies! The emotional non-thinking, non-educated members of this society are the ones most easily propagandized. When you have representatives who keep cutting education budgets in order to pay off those who financially supported their re-election, what are you left with? A bunch of ignorant people who can be easily led.

Other developed countries realize that the education of their people is their most important attribute and the majority of their budget goes toward that end. In the majority of developed countries education for ALL their populace is free. Can you say the same for this nation? There are those who would like to do away with public education so that their buddies can make a buck.

President Obama is attempting to get free healthcare and free education for the first two years of college for everyone. I would say that's a step in the right direction but he has to fight tooth and nail to accomplish anything. When is the last time Congress voted to improve our infrastructure? Like him, I am ashamed of this country because, rather than keeping up with others who are advancing, our representatives are placing all government money in a direction that can only bring down this one-time wonderful nation.

I can't recall the author (believe it was Benjamin Franklin) who said that "the people deserve the kind of government they have."

It isn't one person but groups of prejudiced, biased, non-thinking sheeple. That incident cannot be blamed on one person but the society as a whole. Keep pushing to recognize the differences between people and you'll find them. How about looking for the similarities! It is those that made this nation great.

We are all human with the exception of the dumb asses who like to think they're better than others of different races, ethnicities, beliefs. What ever happened to respect for each other?

Years ago, the "Ugly American" was recognized worldwide. Those who visited Europe and complained because everyone didn't speak English. I did experience embarrassing situations when I realized that the Ugly American still exists. The Ugly American is a result of ignorance and propagandized false pride. Rather than improving and educating oneself, it is much easier to look down on others. It eventually backfires. It is doing so now. Please don't be so prideful by believing there is no rape and murder going on in this country. Truth is, you don't want to recognize it.

Rather than complaining about what is going on in other countries, look in your own back yard.
