Hi. So everyone who has or is contemplating raising kids needs, and I mean, needs to read this now:

The book, Being There, by Dr. Komisar

She is a Psychotherapist who saw shocking levels of ADHA, hostility, etc., in children she was treating.

Some interesting research is where she applies biology to emotional stability, etc.

I think if we follow this we can eliminate family social services within a generation.

This book is a result of her experiences.

It highlights the fundamentals of BEING with your kids, PARTICULARLY MOTHERS.

But she also shows how important FATHERS are as well.

Trust me on this one.

It's a necessary read if you want to truly save your children.

(If u r dubious, get it through the library. But I think you'll agree with her research and in that case buy one for reference).

Regards,

Fay

Hi. So everyone who has or is contemplating raisi... (show quote)

Well Fay,

Most of us here are long past the kid raising days.

Most OPP users are grandparents and even great grandparents.

And were also mostly already aware of the very things this Dr. Komisar has written about.

In fact, most of us here could have actually written the book ourselves.

That being said, how are you this lovely morning ?

Doing good, thanks. Best to you, as well.

Well, we all know people from different generations....older and younger.

We can't really do enough to help them pave their way.

For what its worth, if we help others to eliminate dependence in any way its, in my opinion, the best thing we can do.

For instance:

I just saw an ad asking for volunteers to help addicts recover. I am contemplating getting involved. I believe that many people take drugs because they are escaping from something they think is themselves, but isn't. They don't have a fully formed sense of individuality. And the confidences that are derived from knowing and experiencing it. All they are, are composities of everyone else's intentions: the guidance counselor, social worker, activist collectivist "reeducators."

So some of this can be applied to helping these people discover a lost self. Even, I think, in hindsight.

Once the consciousness is opened up to their own significance, I think they are on their way.

(If you want to see a sequencing of "individuation", check our Abraham Maslow and his Self Actualization. A worthy goal for all of us and something we can point to in teaching others).

Anyway, maybe there can be a role for the teachings. Remember: we are all in this together. Lets bolster one another where we can.

I hope you're not being phoesecious.

I understand either way.

But dont underestimate yourself. You are a lot smarter than you've been led to believe.

As for me, I try to help expose people to areas which may help them and their loved ones.

I believe in the idea that if we, as individuals, become the best we can, residually we help each other.

Please try "googling" some of the suggestions.

You'll have some fun, discover aspects of yourself you'll like.

Never, ever, underestimate yourself.

Always b growing.

Regards.

Great job!

In order to understand an issue or problem we have to define it.

You've done it!

Sorry about the early years. You are a great example of someone who has been given challenging circumstances and ARE BEATING THEM.

Thanks for sharing the victory.

Here's a thought that helped me:

A great philosopher once said,

"Judge. And don't be afraid to be judged."

This is profound. In other words, define everything coming at you.

Is it good for me?
Whats the intent?
Who benefits? And why?
Why is this occuring?
Are they consistent?
Can I count on this?
(Who. What. When. Where. Why. How)

Judge these events harshly. Without mercy.

And watch for this:

THE TYPE WHO SAYS, "I DON'T JUDGE."

Why do you think they say that?

BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT YOU TO JUDGE (DEFINE) THEM...AND THEIR MOTIVATIONS.

They are declaring that they are moral relativists. That they will deal with you situationally. AND THAT CAN BE DIFFERENT EVERY TIME!

Listen. Define. Judge. And call em on it.

Regards
