A cowards tool box

Cowards have many tools at their disposal, to help them avoid conflict and embarrassment. We see them in use here every day. When someone disagrees with a coward, using logic and common sense, it leaves the coward with no wiggle room, so they attack the person instead of the argument. It is a tactic as t***sparent as glass, but it gives them a false sense of accomplishment. That's the beauty, and the danger, of the internet, where there are no visible consequences for what we say. We are essentially anonymous on the net, and can't be held accountable. All bullies are cowards and many cowards are also bullies, and can't handle being shown up, or made to look stupid - as though it is the other persons fault.

Another tool available here on OPP, is the blocking function. This is used by cowards who become frustrated when their target doesn't respond to their vitriol, and who continue to make them feel stupid. What better way to avoid conflict, avoid being embarrassed, and avoid looking stupid, than by barring the offender from writing on your posts? To be fair, there are some users who's use of abusive language and/or stalking, deserve to be blocked, but many use this feature to avoid facing someone they can't compete with, such as Don G. does.

The world is full of cowards, but they're easy to spot. BTW, not arguing with someone who attacks one personally, is not a sign of cowardice, in fact, it's just the opposite - as arguing with them would be equivalent to attacking an unarmed person.

Sir,

In regard to your comment about blocking users from responding, I totally agree that it is a tool of a coward.

I commend you for not using the ignore option yourself because there are those of us here, including myself, who have given you reason to block us.

Despite any negative response that I may have submitted to you, I would ask that you believe that I have come to respect you and even admire you and it is all due to your honorable behavior.

Thanks for this interesting topic and for being an example of a respectable American citizen.

I beg to differ. SOMETIMES, certain people just won't lay off. ie. when I tire of someone's STUPIDITY, I just IGNORE all of his or her posts from then on, and I TELL them I am going to ignore them, but SOME of them just WON'T LET UP!! THEN I would BLOCK them!! Because I am NOT going to ALLOW "ANYONE" to make a victim of me. And ANYTIME, ANY COWARD thinks they are going to STALK me, they are going to have ANOTHER think coming!!! And the one DOING THE STALKING "IS" the COWARD!!!

There are posters, posing as people, that irritate others as a sporting event. They contribute nothing to a discussion but consternation and deserve no more respect than a pesky mosquito.
The blocking or ignore feature is the online equivalent of a can of Raid or a fly swatter. Use it liberally. It will make the world a better place, eventually, when the classless miscreants realize their efforts are futile.

When I have something to say, I try and get right to the point I'm trying to make. I don't try to make anybody look bad for what they believe in, I don't use filth in my statements when I reply back to them. And most important if my point of view is not accepted, I just stop and go on to another subject!!
