http://youtu.be/jbtXAdM4rEIAbsolutely, "the new Core Curriculum" is not about creating smarter more competitive students. On the contrary, it places emphasis on three main issues other then the three basics, Reading , Writing and Arithmetic. Social, Environmental and Economical. Is their current agenda. Again three areas that the Government has no Constitutional right to not only initiate but interfere with. Where the three issue's intersect and overlap is the Governments "Sweet Spot".
My advice to anyone who will listen, is pull your children from "Government funded Education". As radical as that may appear, I have known four individual families from four totally different areas of the united states . Montana, South Carolina, Vermont, Pennsylvania. All from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. All of their children were better prepared for the "Real World". Their comprehension and cognitive development was far superior. Than that of their counterparts. Albeit, some of this might have been innate. However, with the varying degree of ages, sex , etc. I am hard pressed to believe this is coincidence.
It becomes even clearer once you read what just happened in Texas. Yes, I researched this. without going into a dissertation. I'll be as succinct as possible. A mother found out (From a test) her son brought home, that her local school district was making her child view a documentary suggesting that 911 was somehow Americas fault. Implying that because of Americas Foreign Policy that in one way or another America was responsible for 911. Of course once it was brought to the school board attention they took the steps necessary to quell the offended Mother. Whether or not they made an effort to pull the Video from further viewing I could not ascertain at this juncture. This is Frigging despicable, and in Texas of all places.
Let me emphasize, this is just a grain of sand on the beach that is Our educational system. I said it once, and I'll reiterate, Pull your kids from public schools. The down side is, your property taxes will still be paying for the Brainwashing of "little Ones". Hey! I am simply relaying pertinent information. All the progressives reading this should read what there children are learning in school. My niece told me that (Corn chips were made from corn grown in the Rain Forrest) Seriously.

The third question on the controversial quiz was: Why might the United States be a target for terrorism? according to CBS Houston. The credited answer which Sandss son did, in fact, select was (B.) Decisions we made in the United States have had negative effects on people elsewhere.
Other possible answers were (A.) Other people just dont like Americans, (C.) Terrorists h**e everyone, and, of course, (D.) None of the above.
The quiz occurred after students watched a half-hour-long video in class called Remembering September 11th.
That was a positively chilling video, Navysnipe. We should start using this thread as a repository on bad education.

John - You should take a gander at exactly what Ronald Havolck initiated in the "Change Agents Guide to innovation in Education" Enlightenment never looked so good:(

I realize I am sounding like a reactionary or defeatist , however. I have been trying to convince the minions that this is a reality. Not just a fabrication of my imagination.
Try not to be discouraged with those who don't have eyes to see, or ears to hear.
Ayn Rand likened modern educators to the old "Comprachicos" who would pick up orphans or other homeless children and surgically alter them so that they would be suitable for the travelling circuses of the seventeenth centuries. I found this particular essay a bit too dry. I read it, sighed and then moved on to other more interesting subjects. Little did I realize what an impact the modern education system was having on my country. I did not realize that there was any kind of organization behind it. Charlotte Iserbyte has changed my mind:

John-
After reading Atlas Shrugged I felt well, somehow vindicated. Art imitating life. Hell and that book was written some 57 years ago, from a Russian immigrant no less. I realize I am preaching to the choir. Nonetheless, I have experienced a rather severe Berating from my progressive citizenry for Mentioning the book. The minions have fallen right into "the big Lie". After all Convince the Masses that it's in the best interest of the children and they will follow you over a cliff.
