I have a friend who is struggling to get their AM glucose under control. She is borderline now, at 100, but she is worried because her doctor says she will become diabetic. The rest of the day, she can go from 70 to 120.... 70 before eating to 120 one hour after eating. Any recommendations?

I'm not diabetic, but all disease is diet related. Diabetics are consuming too many carbohydrates. Your friend needs to eat more green vegetables. Your body can heal itself of anything if you correct the problem , and nourish it properly.

Pennylynn, there is a great deal of information out there on the internet about how to deal with this problem. The real issue is, how committed is your friend to really wanting to improve her condition? Most people are not willing to make the lifestyle changes that are necessary to see real improvement in their lives. For many, if they can't take a pill to solve their problem, they are lost.

Your friend must take ownership of her own health. She should be actively reading and looking at alternatives to her problem. First recommendation, get plenty of exercise. Second, she could start by changing her diet and eliminating carbs with a high glycemic index (potatoes, carrots, peas) and replace them with lots of fresh vegatables, Kale, Broccoli, celery, Okra, etc.

For many people, juicing is pretty severe, but that is a great way to improve many health maladies.

Have her add more beneficial oils to her diet, flaxseed, black seed oil, coconut oil. Add more nuts, and healthful spices such as Cylon (not regular) Cinnamon, Gymnema Sylvestre, Bitter Melon.

Now, let's see how committed your friend really is in attempting to solve her borderline diabetes problem.

What does your friend weigh? Get weight and diet under control and the problem should correct itself...

Several friends of ours who have been prediabetic have added a high protein low carb supplement to their diets. They have lost unwanted weight as well as gotten the situation under control. don't know if that would be helpful.

My heartfelt thank you goes out to all of you!

Let me answer some of your questions. Yes, this is a female and is very overweight. I would guess she weights 250 or more. She is also short, about 5'6. And she is the same age as myself.... 67. She claims to have no other health problems, although I think she may be hypertensive and just ignores it or does not care.

I suggested she try the low carb high fat diet, as this seems to have some valid findings from several sources.... findings show that not only weight loss but also a reduction in glucose (fasting, first thing in morning) and as a side benefit cholesterol levels normalize. She said she went on this diet a couple weeks ago, but has not lost a pound and her waking blood is still up around 113 (her report). From personal experience and everything I have read and found out through a cousin who is a doctor, she should have dropped 10 or more pounds and her waking glucose should be in the 90s after 10 to 12 days. She may be c***ting on her diet and eating more carbs than she thinks. She is not a vegan, so eating more protein and good fats should be much easy for her. A few years ago, as some may recall, I gained 7 pounds and thought my world was ending. I went on a reduced carb diet, increasing my intake of good fats (avocado, walnut oils).... not only did I loose the pounds, but my good cholesterol increased by 20 percent while my bad went down considerably. So, I thought (and so did my cousin who is a doctor) that she could achieve her goals by using the same method. But, she says she is doing everything recommended and not loosing weight and her glucose is not improving.

Her obsession is driving me nuts! Yesterday, the Sabbath dinner... she was a guest (not Jewish).. we are all eating, talking (and arguing, which is normal) and she pulls out her test kit... right there at the dinner table!!!, to prick her finger and test her "level"... who wants to see that when you are eating???.... anyway, talking to her son, this is now one of her "normal" or a******l behaviors along with tests strips in the bathroom to check her ketone levels... He also says that she "charts" everything, from her weight to her almost hourly checks on her "levels".....

So, I made this thread, and all of you have given valuable insight. If you think of anything else that could help.... please let me know.
