So I am expected to believe that politicians are experts in the field of Health Insurance??

I want to sell you a pig in a polk! The first thing I need to do is find a perfect salesman. Someone you would believe to be true, honest, and knowledgeable about the product that is being sold, Right?
It is time to here from the INSURANCE COMPANIES themselves! Politicians have never been able to get it right to begin with. Politicians always explain a savings, as follows- ( The price increase is going to be 70%, BUT we are going to put a cap of 40% on that increase. That will save you 30%.) SOUND FAMILIAR? IT is the same old bull s#*t we have heard for years, and it isn't going to get any better.

Without the Insurance industry getting personally involved, and putting their name on the dotted line, we the people haven't got a chance.
If we don't wake up this time around, then we will get exactly what we deserve!

Weasel-exactly! To politicians a savings is merely a reduction in the proposed increase. If they operated from a
base line, the savings would be too minuscule to even mention. Either we have a market based health care insurance system or Single Pay. Both need to be scored by the CBO to see which one would be best. Believe a Medicare Type system for all, with appropriate private market insurance supplements, might be the least expensive as we would cut out the need for insurance company profits except for the 20% or so covered by the supplemental
insurance as is the case with medicare. It would be interesting to compare the two. America First !!!

Exactly!
Anything else, seems to be in direct violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.
Insurance costs have been Lobbied in Congress more than Oil and Energy combined. And this Lobbying is not being done to hold down the cost of Health Care.

They need to explain why healthcare is so expensive, not why insurance is so expensive. BTW - Obama didn't do it.

IPN-Agree that Health Care costs need to be addressed if Health Ins. is expected to be reasonably priced. America

I agree. Why do people think govt. can solve it? Govt gives us some examples. Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, and the Native American health insurance coverage. None of those would survive as a private business. They are fraught with inefficiency, fraud, and red tape.

UM: and just what do you base this opinion on? Medicare is actually MORE efficient than private insurance as it is not having to pay for so many middle managers, not to mention advertising fees.

Ask the doctors how efficient it is? Look at the cost per person and the amount we spend on Medicare. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation Medicare outlays (that is, Medicare spending minus income from premiums and other offsetting receipts) are projected to increase from $527 billion in 2015 to $866 billion in 2024, according to CBO ; CBO projects total Medicare outlays to increase from $632 billion in 2015 to $1.1 trillion in 2024. Does that seem sustainable to you? Since you have joined OPP I give you kudos for being a statistical anomaly. You have not been correct yet.

And how many people is that to cover? The well kept secret is it is all smoke and mirrors anyway. If we can afford perpetual war we can also afford perpetual healthcare. If both are "too much" I suggest ending the perpetual warfare.

Your answers are just plain rediculous. Comparing warfare and healthcare is just stupid. Your streak continues.
