What a fantastic vocal range, he sounds like low tenor and when he cuts loose, it is either Mezzo Soprano or Soprano. This fellow has a higher range limit than the Castrati ever reached. Even Axl Rose doesn't have this span.

I love music as much as anyone, but not quite sure if I could listen to this. I'm not one to listen to opera either, and if you start playing rap I'll put a bunch of holes in your ghetto box.

Opera Singing is an acquired taste, if you understand the language. The story being sung and acted out forms a basis to appreciate operatic performances. If you don't comprehend the language it becomes difficult to simply listen to the sounds no matter how pretty they are. I can't stand scat singers. Sometimes Contraltos sound like cats screeching to me, no matter what they are saying. From long exposure, many of the operatic arias have become familiar and enjoyable even though I might not understand the words.

In general, I like opera without words. The music is magnificent and much more enjoyable, to me, without the distraction of the caterwauling that sometimes pervades the performance.

You and I share similar taste. BTW, Dimash actually is not an opera singer, he is from Kazakhstan and is fluent in several languages. If you enjoyed the other one, listen to this one.... it is about a "visitor" and is called SOS.... it has English subtitles, if your French may be rusty (like mine).... very beautiful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyUu2ZS4VBA. BTW, I have all of Pavvarotti as well as Bocelli.....

The Three Tenor Series of concerts showcased their voices and gave a great comparison. Pavarotti was a great lyric tenor with a vocal range of one octave below middle C to one octave above, with little falling off at the high end of the register. Placido Domingo's Spinto Tenor was forceful and powerful in his high range but not nearly as high as Pavarotti. Of the three, Jose Carreras had the most beautiful voice with a quality that approached Spinto verging on Dramatic tenor at the top end of his range.

If you like vocal pyrotechnics, listen to Peruvian Soprano Yma Sumac, her voice spans an incredible five octaves down through the baritone register and into the high bass register.

Great Choice! Beautifully illustrative of my comments and brings back many great memories. My mother used to sing this aria, it was one of her favorites.

There was a composer conductoir named Karl Haas. He was a noted musicologist and lecturer who had a radio program called "Adventures in Good Music". Each day, while I was on my way to work I would listen to his program on WQXR Philadelphia and got an extensive education in classical music in all of its forms. He was immensely interesting and gave history, biography, and motivation of the great masters and illustrated it with excerpts of varying lengths from their works. For instance, Beethoven among others was heavily into numerology and the number three was of huge significance. He not only repeated phrases three times but in three sets of three. This is exemplified by the Coriolan and Egmont overtures and his fifth symphony.

His lectures are still available on-line as podcasts, Search for: Adventures in Good Music Podcast.
