I'm DavidtheLiberal. I grew up Republican, antiUnion, Pro Eisenhower/Nixon. My father was an Army Chaplain, and was a New Deal/Roosevelt Democrat until Truman integrated the Army. I suspect causality, but was between 7 and 10 during this change, and really cannot know.
I earned my doctorate, and during my time teaching in the NC university system we encountered a <censored> Chancellor. I realized that the faculty organization was the only way to defend faculty rights, and (shortening the story here) I ran for AFT organizing President. One other fellow (a liberal) got a few more v**es so the AFT organizer suggested they elect us President and Organizing Secretary-Treasurer by acclamation. They did. I learned the good that Unions do, and the good that Democrats and liberals do and the evils that come from the Conservatives. That's my history. I have moved to what I call an arch-liberal point of view.

Nice to hear from you. I'm not finding a whole lot of commentary on here, although the first time I made one, iin response to, and deriding the use of the term "Obozo" (as I'd hoped to have a relatively adult forum here) I was instantly and pompously dismissed as, "one of those liberals..." etc. Decided with that kind of trollmanship going on, I may not be here long after all. Thanks, Aimleft. When I find remarks that are disrespectful of the President personally I try, mostly unsuccessfully, not to reply. Mark Twain said approximately, don't argue with a fool. There was more, but this is the gist.

Hello, I'm longansilky. I'm all for Ted Cruz and the other Republicans that are against obamacare. I'm on disability and I can't afford the obamacare, who can $1000.00 or more a month for health ins. I can't, set on a limited income. Plus, Obama needs to be arrest for fraud, treason, lies & etc.. to many to name or have him impeached. He is taking away or rights of our freedom in the good ole USA. JS

Hello my name is Rich. I was raised a Republican my father was in WWII and Ike was the hero. We also were Lutheran and were told that if Kennedy is elected president the Pope will be running the country. At thirteen I didn't think that was a lie because I wanted to believe it. By the time I was old enough to v**e and realized that I was probably going to be middle class I knew that the Republican party was the party of the very rich, don't get me wrong I always wanted to be a Republican but I could never save up enough. I am a Nam vet. and retired master plumber, owned my own business for 34 years, I hunt and fish and own many guns. I favor any gun control laws that will help to stop k*****gs of citizens. I am a registered, campaign volunteer liberal in Grand Rapids Minnesota where every Democrat in our district, State and Federal won in 2012.

CharlesX I very much agree with you, because of all the Liberal Hypocrites I have read and heard about, who say Take their guns but I get to Keep my Gun, or who have body guards paid for with OUR TAX'ES. The Hypocrites who say ( If we only save one life. ) When they are knowingly and Deliberatly passing Antigun laws that will make Millions of New Victims for the Criminals WHO WILL STILL HAVE GUNS!
These SCUM who are pushing their POLITICAL AGENDA on Law abiding Americans, NOT CARING WHO DIES BECAUSE OF THEIR POLITICS, as long as they get to stay in OFFICE!!!

to Genelong4 and Charlesx Would either of you give me one example of gun laws that passed since President Obama took office. The Brady bill was a right wing bill spawned by the Reagan shooting. Which has passed it's sunset. The US is much larger and more divers than when the 2nd amendment was passed. I live in northern Minnesota where guns are a way of life, there are h****rs in my neighborhood every day all fall. I have hunted all my life and presently own many guns, some registered some not, but I do not and will not live in the fear that Uncle Sam is going to come and get my guns because some are registered. If the government wants to know who has a gun they simply could look at who buys hunting licenses. After the shootings of many innocent children I will support any laws that would make gun buying and ownership restricted to law biding stable citizens. It is harder to buy a box of allergy pills than a lethal weapon. When I saw the guys floundering all over each other at the gun counter when I was Christmas shopping last year shortly after the Sandy Hook k*****gs I for the first time in my life was truly ashamed to be a gun owner. rich278
