Let me be clear.

I love that tag line, it's one of those sociological tells, it tells us the person who utters it is about to tell a lie. Other such tags are "believe me", "trust me" and "I promise you". These are just a few of them out there and I'm pretty sure we're all aware of them. That begs the question; why do we keep falling for lies? Is it desperation, wishful thinking, or is it just comfortable? We all know that the best lies are coated in a little bit of t***h, how much or little t***h, depends on the sk**l and experience of the liar.

Way back when I was still involved in mental health, we learned to recognize when someone was lying, by using body language and those verbal "tells", and it never failed to accurately catch a liar. For instance; someone who gives far more information than required, in an attempt to convince me, is a dead giveaway. They know they're lying, afraid they'll be discovered, so work far harder to sound convincing. Certain mannerisms and body language can also be dead giveaways, and when you know what to look for - you know when someone is about to lie.

Although body language cannot be assessed online, there are similar "tells" there as well. Anyone who repeats the same information more than twice, is probably lying. Anyone who starts a conversation with an attack, is ABOUT to lie. Using distractions is also a favorite tactic of liars i.e., "there are extraterrestrials in government, you asshole". The lie about extraterrestrials is missed, due to the anger generated by the insult. Insults are the most favored distraction used, insults and derision. Have you seen any examples of that here on OPP?

To be fair, everybody lies at some point, and some people lie more than others, but there are people who start every conversation with a lie, even when it isn't necessary. Many salesmen are pathological liars, not all of them by any means, but for many of them, being an accomplished liar is an asset. Conmen are ALL liars, that is indeed their stock and trade. Politicians tend to be "selective liars", where they carefully select what to lie about and how, but almost all political talk contains a lie, for some, many lies. Those politicians that tend to lie even when unnecessary, are in the pathological range of defects, but even they have the same tells as a non liar who lies.

Remember Bill Clinton saying " I did not have sexual relations with that women "? All the while he was saying that, his head was in fact nodding, indicating that he did indeed have sex with that women. That was one of HIS tells. So, next time you see a video of someone speaking, watch their face, hands and body, and you'll see the tells. I urge you to pay special attention to the hands of Trump, who has several tells; the "OK" sign, the "point", the "handout" and the "stop", you'll see them when you look for them - and each of them indicates deception, either an outright lie ( the ok and point ), or a bait and switch type lie ( the handout and stop ). When he grabs the podium, he's telling the t***h. Look for all the other tells as well. Here's another one, Jeff Sessions, the "smirk" is one of his tells, where he subconsciously has a smirk on the side of his face, when he lies.

Let me be perfectly clear, I am not a crook. Remember who made that famous lying statement?

President Nixon would roll over in his place of rest should he see the mess the Democrats are creating.

That's a pretty pathetic attempt at deflection, but it was amusing.
