Queen Elizabeth II has been on the throne 65 years and will celebrate her Sapphire Jubilee. She is now the second longest reigning Monarch in world history. The longest reigning was Louis 14th. the Sun King, who ascended the French throne at 8 years of age, and died in his 80s. The third longest ruling Monarch would be Hirohito of Japan (63 years), and fourth would be Franz Joseph (62 years) of the AutrianHungarian Empire which no longer exists.
The Queen reigns in Great Britain as a Parliamentary Monarch, but it is Parliament that rules. She is an honor to her people, and a shining example to the rest of the world. She was made Queen at the death of her farther, George the Sixth. who reigned during the WWII period, and who made Great Britain an honorable ally of the United States. God save the Queen.
