Murder Rates Are Plummeting As Concealed Carry Soars

Anti-gun members of the media and the Democrat Party keep lying about the fictional problem of “gun violence,” but hard data shows yet again that more guns equals less crime:

The number of concealed carry handgun permits has skyrocketed since President Obama was first elected, while murder rates have fallen, according to a new report set to be released Wednesday.

Since 2007, the number of concealed handgun permits has soared from 4.6 million to over 12.8 million, according to the report from the Crime Prevention Research Center.

And the number is increasing faster every year. Over 1.7 million new permits were issued last year — a 15.4 percent increase from 2013, according to the report. It is the largest-ever single-year increase in the number of permits.

The number of people that carry concealed handguns is likely even higher, since permits are not required in seven states.

More women are getting permits than men, the report stated. Since 2007, permits for women have increased by 270 percent and for men by 156 percent.

At the same time, murder rates have fallen from 5.6 to 4.2 per 100,000, about a 25 percent drop. Overall violent crime also fell by 25 percent, according to the report.

For nearly 30 years, supporters of gun control have been hysterically proclaiming that “blood in the streets” will accompany to expansion of concealed carry rights from state to state, and when that didn’t come true, they claimed that bodies would pile up as the number of locations within each state where citizens can carry have expanded, and “gun free zones” have shrunk in both size and number.

They’re been wrong consistently with these claims.

It’s going to be interesting to see how gun control groups will attempt to pick apart and spin the data from the report, but the simple fact of the matter is that they’re only playing to a ever-smaller echo chamber as more and more Americans embrace their Second Amendment rights.

I think a person who wants to carry conceled,should have a permit to do so (I have one) but,a person who wants to open carry,should have the right to do so,with out a permit,as long as he/she is over 21 years of age,after undergoing a class on safe handling of weapons, and no criminal record.

I don't 'get it'. You draw a distinction between strapping a gun to your hip and sliding one under your shirt? Why would it matter which method is used to carry a sidearm? One method has no advantage over the other in terms of effective use, right?

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Wyoming and Vermont don’t require a permit at all for concealed carry in public. Other States are sure to follow.

By the way, when you apply for a concealed carry permit, all you're really doing is telling them where to look when it's time to start confiscating...

I've actually heard of several robbery attempts of gun stores. Didn't go well for the robbers in all the cases.
