As of January 18, 2016:

"About 98.3% of a******ns in the United States are elective, including socio-economic reasons or for birth control. This includes perhaps 30% for primarily economic reasons and possibly 0.1% each for sex se******n and selective reduction of multifetal pregnancies."

http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/policy/a******n/abreasons.html

"The official data imply that AGI claims regarding 'hard case' a******ns are inflated by roughly a factor of three. Actual percentage of U.S. a******ns in 'hard cases' are estimated as follows: in cases of rape, 0.3%; in cases of incest, 0.03%; in cases of risk to maternal life, 0.1%; in cases of risk to maternal health, 0.8%; and in cases of fetal health issues, 0.5%." In all, about 1.7% of a******ns can be said to be 'necessary'. That means roughly one in 59 is actually necessary. That's 58.7 million dead babies since 1973 because she 'felt like it'.

And now, (D)amned if the (D)evil is not trying to make the "Little Sisters of the Poor," and "US," pay for the entire "obamanation," LtL. Saying that a******ns are "primarily for healthcare," is just like saying "ObamaCare" is primarily for OUR health. BS. It's for a forced {taxed}, HUGMONGOUS "t***sfer of wealth" from middle-class America to the world at large; especially {with previous administration}, if the world can make it "over, under or around" {Pelosi/ACA}, our borders. Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PRESIDENT "45" DONALD J. TRUMP!!!

When you really think about it, you would think the 58 million number would be higher.

I get the struggle on this subject. I have wrestled with this my whole life. All I can say at this point is if these women who marched for their a******n rights in DC want to be be responsible for their own bodies, fine but they need to take financial responsibility for their bodies and stop making others pay for their sex life and their poor decisions. No more taxpayer funds for peoples irresponsible decisions. If these people are going to do adult things, then act like an adult and take responsibility for your actions.

See, it's cheaper to k**l the baby in the womb than it is to provide lifelong welfare payments first to the mother then to the child later on. Those who have no moral compass see it as just that simple. We who understand the sanctity of human life take a different view but we get drowned out by the general cacophony of women screaming 'pro-choice!!!' and carrying signs proclaiming their 'right' to k**l their own children.

Here's a simple question: Take 'government' out of the equation and what are you left with?

Without government there would be no Planned Parenthood. No 'Roe v. Wade' decision. No 'pro-choice' / 'pro-life' BS. All of this would go away. Take a look at any of the more i***tic topics of contention in the world today and tell me there isn't a single one that would not be at least reduced if not totally alleviated in the absence of government.

I agree. As its been said, "I want to see a government so small you can barely see it."

The corruption within our government is staggering. Its infested with criminals, there is no other way to say it.

A******ns would performed if government wasn't involved. If you had enough money 50 years ago, you could get an a******n.

Pro-choice does not equate to pro-a******n. Pro-choice equates to not wanting the government making life or death decisions for yourself and don't feel it's your business to make someone else's decision for them. I don't know what number of women get a******ns for health reasons, so I won't comment on that. I do know that if your amniotic fluid leaks out before you give birth you become high risk for getting sepsis, and the only way to save your life at that point is high doses of antibiotics and the removal of the fetus, whether it is viable or not, and that the window of time between diagnosis and death is only a couple days. Women have died because of doctors at Catholic hospitals fearing being accused of giving an a******n, waiting too long and k*****g the mother. The baby cannot survive either outside the womb Or inside the infected womb of a dead mother, so putting legal obstacles in the way is cruel and senseless. This is one of the reasons for late term abkrtions, which are not done simply for birth control. The other most common reason is a baby whose brain did not separate properly, which may or may not make it to term and if it does will die without a feeding tube, at birth
With a feeding tube it may live a year without being awake or aware or opening it's eyes (if it has them). There are also cases of incest of children barely old enough to get pregnant. Do you really suggest it should be between a girl and her government whether she should have to give birth to a rape baby of her father's or brother's at 12 or 13. It happens. We don't know what is going on with women who have a******ns. The difference between pro-life and pro-choice is only that pro-life thinks other women's pregnancies are their business and pro -choice gives enough credit to a woman and her doctor to determine what should be done.

The state of Florida records a reason for every a******n that occurs within its borders each year. In 2015, there were 71,740 a******ns in Florida. This table lists each reason and the percentage of a******ns that occurred because of it.

.001% The pregnancy resulted from an incestuous relationship
.065% The woman's life was endangered by the pregnancy
.085% The woman was raped
.288% The woman's physical health was threatened by the pregnancy
.294% The woman's psychological health was threatened by the pregnancy
.666% There was a serious fetal a******lity
6.268% The woman aborted for social or economic reasons
92.330% No reason (elective)

Note, over 92% were preference driven. Over 98% were healthy pregnancies.

According to CDC Surveillance numbers, the a******n rate for 2013 was 12.5 a******ns per 1,000 women aged 15–44 years, and the a******n ratio was 200 a******ns per 1,000 live births. That is 1/5 of all viable pregnancies being terminated by a******n.

In 2014, the highest number of reported a******ns occurred in California (157,350), New York (119,940) and Florida (75,990), more than 350,000 in those 3 States alone. The fewest occurred in Wyoming (120), South Dakota (550) and North Dakota (1,260) (AGI).

Thank you Rover for a sane view of all this!
I say Trust Young Women to do the Right thing. It is not the place of a govt run primarily by old guys to dictate how a female will handle this most personal decision about her life. Giving people the right to decision making truly is an eye opener. In my experience they will do the Right thing. Trust your fellow Americans. They can & will come through remarkably. You can't control everything and shouldn't.

Since 1973 there were 58,587,257 (million) a******ns in the US. Many of those liberal/democrat women who had a******ns on a regular basis, got SICKER, and became social problems. As a result, they used frequently free medical care, due to their mental and physical disability. They became totally dependent on the American taxpayers just by breathing their stinky breath.
They are all addicted to sex and a******ns. It is sickening watching them marched at the Washington DC demanding mare money for free a******ns. Those who support them are equally criminals for aiding and abetting.

Wow!!! What a view of women. Glad to not have to live in that head. At least give them free birth control, viagra is paid for by insurance.
