You people who keep using this quote mangle the meaning by taking it out of context. Here is the whole quote:
_____________________________

Romans 2:
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to t***h against them which commit such things.

3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

Matthew 7:
Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

The context of the quote is that the person judging is a hypocrite who is committing the same sin as is the person he is judging. The command to "judge not" is not given to anyone and everyone who judges. It is only given to hypocrites who are committing the same sin that they are judging someone else for.

Consider this search of the New Testament on the word "Judge"

and see all the contexts of Judge that the Bible talks about. There are many passages that teach when we should judge and when we should not. Many say that we should not judge others, but there are passages that command us to judge others under certain circumstances.

Such as: I Corinthians 5:3-13, and I Corinthians 6, 1 Corinthians 11:30-33,

2 Thessalonians 3:
6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

2 John 1
5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

9 Whosoever t***sgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Good point. I suppose when a hypocrite becomes aware of his hypocrisy, and realizes the wrongness, we have what is known as "cognitive dissonance."

The many different verses you offered, plus a few I looked up myself, almost appear to give a contradictory message or one that seems to demand an almost impossible purity of mind and heart. At the least, it is not something to do lightly or often and must be done only by the standard of God and not any standard of man (such as political alliance).

Taking it all together, the one thing that both ties it neatly in a bow and appears the underlying foundation is love. Love has to be the standard by which we judge anyone; nothing else makes sense. There must be a genuine desire for the well-being of someone's soul, for their sake and good alone, to prompt any judgment or rebuke. It is not out of righteous indignation, for that is only God's, and there is to be no wrath; it is solely to return them to Christ or to warn them of a ruinous path.

The spiritual conditioning of the one who judges must therefore be of an exceptional nature and done in all humility, with no thought of being better or wiser or purer than another. Prayer and complete reliance on the guidance of the Holy Spirit is essential. Any anger is not directed at the person but at the sin that besieges their heart, the ire coming from the hurt we feel at their dire plight.

The method of "shunning" mentioned in a few verses appears harsh and judgmental but again is out of love that they return to Christ. As social creatures, this puts "burning hot coals on their heads." A similar example of this is when we turn the other cheek to the lost of the world: such an action is also meant to put burning hot coals on their heads, or what ca also be described as a crisis of conscience.

At least this is my present take on the subject.

Those are good and valid points regarding taking care not to judge. My point was to take care not to use the Phrase, "judge not lest ye be judged." What does it say about a person when they use that phrase? Perhaps they have something they want to hide and not be convicted of.

I propose that we merely debate a subject, and not debate whether we are judging or being judged. Saying "judge not lest ye be judged," is just a way to change the subject and distract from the subject being discussed.

It can be. Or it can be telling the poster he or she is being hypocritical and he or she should look at him- or herself before casting stones. And if I lump all Conservatives together and make these broad, sweeping negative statements about their character and motives, a caution to "judge not" is in order. Having been here a while, I see a daily need for such a caution although I have never used it. It does seem either pompous or whiny to use it.

There's one more aspect to it as well.
As a lighting rod attracts lighting, that wouldn't have been attracted otherwise, come judgement day, you may be inviting judgement that otherwise wouldn't have been considered.

Sinners cannot judge other sinners. Both are guilty of sin. This makes them a hypocrite. 1st. Corinthians, 6:2-4 states, Christians can judge the world and will even judge angels. Even though Christians can sin, because Satan can catch him off guard at times, he only has to ask God, for forgiveness in Jesus Christ name. Just because Satan has caught him off guard, in his spiritual weakness, does not stop him from being a Christian. If he falls back into sin and go back into the worldly ways, then he can lose his salvation. That is why a Christians should study the Bible and stay prayed up. We cannot tell anyone they will go to hell, because he may accept Christ one day. We can judge the fruits of a person life(the life style he is living) and point out that he is living in sin and needs a savior. If he won't heed to this warning, that is his choice. Jesus Christ said, wipe your shoes off and move on. His blood will be on his own head. Was John the Baptize judging when he call sinners snakes. Was Paul judging when he called Peter a hypocrite. Was Paul judging when he said, God would repay Alexander, for the evil he had done to him. I think not. Like Phil Robertson, he has a absolutely right to warn the sinners of their sins. The problem here is, the sinner does not want to reminded of his sin and fires back with, Judge Not, Least Ye Be Judge.

Insecurity requires constant reinforcement of the insecure person's self-worth, usually at the expense of others, who have in some way inspired jealousy.
