Now that we have a new president..... things will change. We will have manufacturing jobs where hats among other things will be made. Had we had a president for the past 8 years who gave a hoot that too many things were made in China, our PRESIDENT would have had more choices from whom he had his hats made. Next year, more of our everyday items will have a proud label.... Made In America.

We have manufacturing jobs where hats are made. Of course if we don't use them they won't be around long. Don't blame Obama because your president is too cheap to buy American. That's all on him, and of course you for not insisting that he do so. Oh, by the way. Did he ever bring his apparels manufacturing business back to America? If he had he could have made the hats himself....

Perhaps there are some people, essentially those who are unaccustomed to working, would not want "those" jobs. One has to understand business concepts, supply and demand. In the real world, employers compete for workers, just as they compete for customers for their output. And workers go where there is more demand for them, as expressed by what employers offer to pay. Of course, businesses find it more convenient and profitable to import workers at lower pay than pay Americans more. But, importing immigrants is not worth the cost to other Americans, including financial cost in welfare state and social costs... with increased crime rate is just a part.

In anticipation of your next complaint, that with higher wages come higher prices passed on to the consumer. This is partially correct. If you pay a waiter $15 an hour, then that increase is passed on or wait staff is cut. Until the next part of business commonsense kicks in, consumers will only pay a certain amount until they change providers. It is self leveling, business who will not absorb the loss to their personal intake will simply go out of business. This goes for companies that supply janitorial services or farm labors to the physicians "practicing" medicine.

Yes, we will always have those people who would not drive a truck or pick a cucumber, but the vast majority of Americans take p***e in being self supporting and only using government assistance as a temporary hand up.

Seriously...I don't get this hat issue. If you run into a terrorist attack your mall, at your store, or in your church and he cuts your head off,(which they love to do...actually they love to tie you up. Send a child in to saw at your neck slowly with a dull knife). What does the hat matter then?

This is America, they go to a gun store, buy an assault rifle and shoot you to death...

No Pennylynn. No complaints about higher wages. I've been a businessman all my life and know in a free market economy there will always be a businessman who understands that if he/she doesn't raise prices while others are they will be rewarded with an increase in market share and greater income in the long run. An increase in the minimum wage has never caused inflation in the past and there is no reason to believe that it will now. Of course those businesses that do raise prices will be rewarded with fewer customers and will eventually have to shut their doors. They of course will blame their failure on higher wages instead of realizing it was their own ignorance of how a free market works that actually did them in...

Your quite correct, but the use of vehicles and machetes seems to make it much easier for them....lot easier to steel a truck or get your hands on a machete..

If that were true there wouldn't be running gun battles in Chicago--just run each other over or cut their heads off. This is America and no one is to be denied a gun...
