My Pappy used to say.....

My Pappy used to say "you can go through life drunk or stupid...choose one or the other.."

No, he never said that! He was a really a liberal guy. Not like liberals today. He believed in equal rights, but, he also knew not all were born in equal conditions. He was a Pediatrician. He didn't graduate at the top of his class, but, he became a local legend in medical care. As I grew up with him and my mother, who was nurse, I saw first hand how he handled his personal views and his political views. His father was a big Democrat in the 40's and 50's. I remember him as a very stern man....Didn't like kids so much...But, he would roll over in his grave seeing what the Democrats have become.

No...He was in the OSS....And a mayor of a city in Minnesota...He was a hard drinker and hard worker. Not a good father, by modern standards, but he was a man. He was found dead in a street in Washington DC...I never really knew him.

But I knew he loved America.

The thing about generations of people and families......It changes with the time. And attitudes change.

When I think of "Liberal", I think of free speech and less government intervention. Let my people go!
Yet, I also know that we all don't think alike.

What makes a nation? And, why we have to fight to keep it a nation?

It takes going through turmoil. The cycles of human existence.

We are going through getting back to fundamentals....Yet, the left wants to keep it complex.
You have to ask only one question...Why?
First question is why are the Democrats so afraid of Trump?

He threatens the status quo....

The Democrat party is in chaos. They thought they had a winner.....Now they become the whiners.

Second question...

What was the Democrat agenda?

I ask all who read this....What was the Democrat agenda?

That is my last question...It surely leads to more!

Well, I'll tell ya', my grandfather was a Democrat. I don't exactly how deep he was into the bowels of the government, but he was in deep.
He was one tough son of b***h!
I always remember when he would come to stay. Even though he didn't own the place, he owned the place, if you know what I mean. He'd have his cigars and his whiskey and if we kids were making too much noise, which we were, he'd pull a 20.00 dollar bill out for each of us, and say, " Now go on and play outside..".....He reminded me W.C. Fields in a way.

I barely knew him when he was found dead under suspicious circumstances in D.C. I was 6 years old.
And little by little few facts came out..... My grandmother on that side lived a life of seclusion. When she died some years ago,
10 years, the only to go was my own father. Didn't even know she had passed.

But, I do know some conversations my father and his dad had. Over some whiskey and cigars, they would talk about some politics. They were vivid, for sure. But, there was no liberal bent to them. It was more about how government can help the people. They both agreed on low taxation, defense, and civil rights. And both agreed that government should be about the Constitution first and foremost.

As I grew up, as I would, I saw my mother and father in their medical fields. I had to, as I was gathered up and taken to wherever they were working. It made no difference who the patient was.....And it was this way when we went with the Peace Corps. Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal......It did not matter.
What mattered was helping people.

But guess what? Both my parents v**ed Republican! Go figure......

I suppose my point is that the Democrats have proven one thing.......They can destroy their own party...
And, it is a good thing for America. They destroy themselves before the entire country.

Amen.

I've always said this to most of my friends "you can have all the education in the world, but if you don't have or use common since with it your
Deaf/Dumb/Blind ". Sounds like your dad & mom have it all together using both knowledge & good old CS right on. A lot can be accomplished with Whiskey & Cigars

even if you don't say a word

Well, my parents managed to raise 4 kids, and we never felt rich or privileged. But, in hindsight, we very lucky to have been able to travel and see the world as it is, or was. We dodged a few figurative bullets along the way through Africa. But, what can you do when 13 years old...You go where your parents go. My father passed back in 2008, but, he left a legacy of being himself and a great doctor. I still find his old patients socially, and they just gush with affection for the man. My mother is still alive and living in Iowa , near her sister. My Dad was successful, as he left my mother with millions. But, money was never a focus.
It was finding what you love to do, and do it well.

I was able to attend a private ski racing academy for my high school. It was run by French people, and all my coaches, except for two, were foreign. French, Austrian, Argentine.....So, I got to understand the different cultural aspects, and learn to ski race at a high level. But, since I was geographically far, my parents never saw me race. But, they gave me the opportunity.

Now, my point is, opportunity is important. America has always offered this, as history can show. However, the outcome of this opportunity is up to the individual. I see around me many people from different countries who have LEGALLY immigrated here with little, and slowly, they build......Homes, businesses....Families. And they integrate into American society.

The key is they are good people. Oh, maybe they needed some help. A hand up....But, their p***e didn't ask for a hand out.

The Democrats WANT a dependent society. Whether they serve serve the people or not, they end up taking from society and then tell us what we need. The want equal opportunity? No, they want equal outcome....Every one wins...Except that is lie.
The socialist left wants equal misery! They will get wealthy off the people, but you won't. Because if you do, you don't need them anymore. They need you to need them. That is why the "War on Poverty" has only produced more poverty.
They lie. They lie to us, they lie to themselves, and they aren't that bright. Sure, they may have degrees and education.....But, they continue to show they are dumb as rocks.

Why would a political party who has been losing across the country, finishing off with an upset loss for the Presidency, the Senate and the House of Representatives, along with Governorships and State legislatures, v**e back in the likes of Nancy Pelosi as their House leader??

It makes zero sense...Yet, they do it.

So, common sense seems to elude the left. But, they live among us.....We have to deal with them.

Just don't ever let them run anything! It will invariably break!

Just face facts liberals are wired in their DNA they come up with a good program, but that want work with them, they have to modify it with this and that,If it still works they have to go back to the drawing board and re-do it, tell it fails,an in doing so they can blame other party's for it's failure: example the welfare program in it's infancy was a hell of a good program for the "elderly/ sick /disabled".Then the changes came along till what you see of it today;today people who do not even come close to qualify in as I had mentioned earlier are making this program a career not to mention giving money & free phones to every tom, dick, & harry.who hasn't even payed into the system; so in other words the program is broken & they blame the other side : but yet will not fix it if they do then they want get the v**e.Back in the late sixty's my uncle claimed that the Dem's was taking money out of the Social Security funds to pay for the war effort which we well know now he was right my parents thought he had gone off the deep end & completely nuts. An the IOU's keep pilling up let's hope Trump can fix this program theirs a lot of people who count on this check to help make end's meet till the next one comes along.

I'm happy to hear what a wonderful life you had with your parents /very educational not to mention fun too!
