According to angrypatriotmovement.com, Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, stated that he will be "pushing for more austere sanctions against Russia" if Trump decides to remove them:

The article later laments:

"It seems to be a favorite ploy of the Democrats to blame Russia. They’re acting as if we’re still aiming nukes at each other like we did in the Cold War, but Russia hasn’t really given us any reason to be against them. It’s just that the Democrats see them as a convenient scapegoat."

Oops... Also:

"Maybe the reason they don’t like Russia is because they never turn their back on anyone. Obama wouldn’t be able to stab Russia in the back the way he did with Israel, and he knows it." Might be a little harder to pull the wool over the eyes of an ex-KGB Colonel...

It's quite entertaining to watch, really. Both Trump and Putin know what the deal is with the current round of accusatory finger-pointing and they're both more or less just sitting back and waiting for these fools to be ejected from the seats of power they currently abuse to their little hearts' content. Won't be long now......

That's totally besides the point. There's this big push to demonize Russia and set the Russian people up as these big boogeymen (yet again). It didn't make any sense then I came across this:

I'm not real big on 'conspiracy theories', but to be honest, this is just about the only even marginally plausible explanation I've come across.
