Israel Will Share 'Evidence' of Obama-UN Collusion With Trump, Ambassador Says

By Rebecca Kheel ~ Dec 26, 2016 ~ News From The Hill

Israel’s ambassador the United States says his country will share evidence with President-elect Donald Trump that the Obama administration was behind a United Nations Security Council resolution that condemned Israel’s settlements in Palestinian territory, though the ambassador did not offer the evidence when pressed in a CNN interview.

"We will present this evidence to the new administration through the appropriate channels, and if they want to share it with the American people they are welcome to do it," Israel's ambassador, Ron Dermer, told CNN on Monday.

The Security Council v**ed 14-0 Friday on a resolution that condemns Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory as a “f**grant violation” of international law” and demands a halt to “all Israeli settlement activities” as “essential for salvaging the two-state solution."

The United States, which has veto power in the Security Council, abstained from the v**e, breaking with longstanding U.S. policy to shield Israel from U.N. condemnation and allowing the resolution to pass.

The move prompted widespread backlash against Obama from Republicans and Democrats alike.

It also infuriated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who already has a shaky relationship with Obama. Netanyahu accused the United States of “colluding” with the United Nations in secret and summoned the U.S. ambassador on Sunday.

In the Monday interview, Dermer also accused the United States of being behind the resolution.

“It’s an old story that the United Nations gangs up on Israel,” Dermer said. “What is new is that the United States did not stand up and oppose that gang up. And what is outrageous is that the United States was actually behind that gang up.”

When pressed by CNN host Don Lemon on what evidence Israel has, Dermer said, “We have clear evidence of it,” and added that his country would give that evidence to President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.

When pressed further on why it won’t release the evidence publicly now, Dermer reiterated that Israel would give the evidence to the next administration and said it’s up to those officials whether to make it public.

Dermer also said the reason the U.S. ambassador Dan Shapiro was summoned by Netanyahu was because the United States is "the only country where we have any expectation to actually stand with us at the United Nations."

The Obama administration has dismissed allegations that it was behind the resolution.

“With respect to this resolution, we did not draft this resolution; we did not introduce this resolution,” Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said in a press call Friday.

“The Egyptians, in partnership with the Palestinians, are the ones who began circulating an earlier draft of the resolution. The Egyptians are the ones who moved it forward yesterday. And we took the position that we did when it was put to a v**e."

It Is Reported Israel Reduces Relations With 12 Security Council Countries

By Rebecca Kheel ~ Dec 26, 2016 ~ News From The Hill

Israel is reducing diplomatic working relationships with 12 countries on the United Nations Security Council after the body v**ed to condemn Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory last week, according to reports.

CNN reported Monday that Israel suspended working ties with Britain, France, Russia, China, Japan, Ukraine, Angola, Egypt, Uruguay, Spain, Senegal and New Zealand. The report follows a similar story Sunday night in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

On Friday, the Security Council v**ed 14-0 on a resolution that condemns Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory as a “f**grant violation” of international law and demands a halt to “all Israeli settlement activities” that is “essential for salvaging the two-state solution."

The United States, which has veto power in the Security Council, abstained from the v**e, breaking with longstanding U.S. policy to shield Israel from U.N. condemnation and allowing the resolution to pass.

The two other countries that make up the council, Venezuela and Malaysia, previously had no diplomatic relations with Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was infuriated by the v**e, handed down the order, according to the reports.

The curtailing of working relations means Israeli ministers are to keep travel to those 12 countries to a minimum, while foreign ministers from those countries won’t be received by Israel, according to the reports. Business between Israel and those countries’ embassies will also be suspended, the reports say.

But the order does not apply to Israeli ambassadors in those 12 countries, meaning they will be able to continue their work unabated.

The decision to reduce ties comes after ambassadors from China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, Angola, Egypt, Japan, Spain, Ukraine and Uruguay were summoned to meetings with the Israel's Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

The U.S. ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, was also summoned to a meeting Sunday with Netanyahu.

The order is likely to have little practical effect, as it does not touch trade, security cooperation and other aspects of relations, but it acts as a statement of Netanyahu’s anger at the situation. It also notably excludes the United States, which under President Obama has been on the receiving end of most of Netanyahu’s public lashings.

But Netanyahu has expressed hope of being able to work with President-elect Donald Trump. Members of Congress, too, have pledged legislation to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to Israel, including targeting U.S. funding to the U.N.

Hi Jim, I've been saying the same thing. I understand that the U.S. pays way over and above our share of the U.N. budget. Since the U.N. was founded to arbitrate world problems to avoid wars I think it's clear that they've strayed from that mission.
So I would recommend the following changes. #1. the U.S. pay 'our fair share' which I believe would be 1/199% of the budget. #2. the headquarters be relocated to somewhere that would remind the delegates on a daily basis why they are there. Perhaps, Kabul or maybe Mogadishu or Mosul.
