everyone who has a garden or lives in an area where these plants MIGHT grow needs to look at this and pass it on.

Who knew, npp. And I thought plane tickets to Iran would be the "bong" for sending all the anti-Americans who are packing-their-bags to leave America now that "THE DONALD" is president. These "gardens" seem MUCH more suited. Thanks. Pass it on!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP!!!

I am no doom-day'er nor survivalist but having gone thru a few
military survival course's two of which were quite lengthy , I developed
an awareness of other nature's works of plants protections. They
are awesome life forms .

I keep a deck of cards in my " Get Lost Pack " which denote what is eatable
and what is not for North America . But I'm not a survivalist . lol

I had Belladonna growing on my property in PA. It had beautiful tiny flowers, a bright yellow pistil and five delicate petals shading from deep purple through pale blue at the tips. I recognized what it was and told my kids to let it alone because it was deadly. They were already personally aware of the effects of poison ivy so it sank in immediately.

I had a grape vine growing wild in the middle of my yard. It was left by the previous owner but I think it was a wild vine, not planted. Tried for several years to make the thing produce grapes with no success, so it being an eyesore, I dug it out. The resulting 8 foot of disturbed soil looked like a good place for a flower bed so I bordered it with Belgian block, imported top soil and planted a variety of bulbs. The idea was to have the flowers look like a F**g and a Star at various growing times. I spent a lot of time selecting the bulbs for blooming time and color and meticulously planted them using a string grid layout to get them in the right places to make the figures.

I sat back and waited for the growth to start in the spring. Sure enough some green foliage popped up but there was too much, I expected slower growth on some of the bulbs. I impatiently checked each day for a pattern to emerge.

My 95 Year old, retired farmer neighbor strolled over and chatted with me as we looked at the flower bed and he told me stories of his farming days, He casually mentioned "smart-weed" had overtaken something he grew. City boy me, "I wonder what the hell smart-weed is". I didn't ask so he went away.

After several more of his trips with idle chatter it was obvious to me that something was agitating him. I couldn't understand what it was -- my flower bed was doing great , fully covered with plants about 20 inches high and thriving. At the last trip over he couldn't take it any longer and he said "Dammit are you deliberately growing smart-weed or are you just stupid?" He shook his head and walked away.

I went in the house and got a dictionary to look up smart-weed. It was smart as in painful, not as in it will raise your IQ. I had a bumper crop of Stinging Nettles. I never saw any of the hundreds of bulbs I planted.

Some plants are very tenacious. Usually they are the destructive kind, dangerous and toxic. Doesn't that remind you of some people who post on OPP?
