Pelosi calls for Obama to halt deportationa

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi privately has urged the Obama administration to halt deportations for some i*****l i*******ts, saying that President Obama needs to use more “discretion” to reduce the number of people he’s kicking out of the country.

In an interview with Telemundo over the weekend, Mrs. Pelosi said that just being in the country illegally is not enough of a reason to be deported, and she said i*****l i*******ts must have something more serious on their records.

“Our view of the law is that it — if somebody is here without sufficient documentation, that is not reason for deportation,” she said in the interview, which an immigrant-rights group posted on its website. “If somebody has broken the law, committed a felony or something, that’s a different story.”

Drew Hammill, Mrs. Pelosi’s spokesman, said her comments are “a restatement of her long-held belief that being an undocumented immigrant is not a basis for deportation.”

He said Mrs. Pelosi would prefer, however, to pass a new law legalizing i*****l i*******ts in order to clear up the legal status.

Federal law generally does say that those who are in the country without authorization — either because they jumped the border or have overstayed their visas — are deportable.

But Mr. Obama has claimed broad discretion to decide whom to deport out of the 11 million i*****l i*******ts estimated to be in the country, arguing that Congress only appropriated enough money to deport about 400,000 people a year and so he must pick and choose whom to deport.

Homeland Security officials argue that nearly all of those they deport do meet one of their priority categories of having a criminal record or having previously been deported and returned to the U.S. in violation of that removal.

In her interview with Telemundo, Mrs. Pelosi said she disputes that, saying she’s appeared alongside some of those she said shouldn’t have been deported.

“We have seen the personal stories, and we presented them to the administration,” she said. “I’m hopeful that with the documentation that we are providing to counter what others may be saying about who’s being deported, that we will see action from the president.”

Still, Mrs. Pelosi said she is not sure whether Mr. Obama has the authority to grant a broad suspension of deportations for parents of so-called Dreamers, the i*****l i*******ts whom the president already carved out of danger of deportation in an executive action last year.

“I don’t know whether he has the authority,” Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, said. “But I think that there is discretion in the law as to the implementation, enforcement of the legislation that is calling for these deportations.”

I think that if they just stop counting the i******s their stress would go away. It's either that or kick 'em out. It seems Pelosi has earned disability due to " mental disease or defect. ".

Having long since lost interest in anything that originates in the Pelosi Mouth, I have to wonder what part of ILLEGAL the Senator doesn't understand. Why not deport any non-citizen who has been convicted of a crime in the U.S.?

If they are incapable of deporting them, then for crying out loud, DON'T give them amnesty.

She is too wacky for an institution. Unfortunately, it is illegal to put her out of our misery.

Tap dancing is a priority talent in a politician but it is very difficult to tap dance with one foot in one's mouth and that dancer is a "wooser".

What a stupid statement by a very stupid woman! If they sneaked into our country, that means they are here illegally. If they are here illegally, the law says deport them. Why can't these i***ts figure that out? It's not complicated. All we hear from these amnesty-pushers is "the immigration-system is broken!" Not true, it is being deliberately unenforced to push Obama's amnesty-trash. That way, as more and more i******s keep streaming-in, Obama can say "we can't deport them all, so we may as well let them all stay." Another HUGE LIE is this: "making all the i******s American citizens will benefit the economy." No, it will devastate an already fragile economy. It will drain social-services, medical-services, educational-services. Costs for prison housing will rise due to all the gang-members and other criminals that are already here and keep coming. And lets face it. Our government doesn't know which ones already here are criminals nor do they care. Obama and his amnesty-pushers do NOT represent the American worker. They do however represent the illegal-invader. Can you say T*****RS?

Every day, across this nation, we support in a marvelous fashion, thousands of illegal non citizens who have performed some criminal act for which they are now incarcerated. We don't even have to look for them. We have already paid a small fortune to prove them guilty of wh**ever they have done and we are paying again to keep them in a manner to which they are happy to become accustomed. Daily we underwrite a social club that has nothing like it anywhere except behind prison walls. Where else would you be able to assemble with your Muslim, Mexican brothers who share the same disregard for American society and its laws? They came here uninvited and deserve to be sent home though they may be unwelcome there as well. We'd be saving money in the long run. Ask Sheriff Joe?

The only reason for her remark is probably she hires quite a lot of those i******s for her 2 vineyards she owns. Cheap labor.... no less.
