I've had my present best friend for almost four years now.
I picked her up at 10 weeks old. We are almost inseparable
and both are doing quite well for it.
Before this canine friend I had a two decade gap in such
an arrangement and regret the decision greatly.

I ran across this site and thought to share it. If you like
dog's and acknowledge the goodness they bring then this
is for you. Be certain to follow the links on the right side
of the page for great stories.

I have three, currently, all adopted. A Pit Bull, a Pit Bull/Labrador mix, and a little Heinz 57. They get along just fine.

I went twenty years without a pet because of me being in the military, and not being able to spend any "quality" time with it. Always been fanatical about German Shepherds.

Once I got out of the military, I let the wife know I have always dreamed of having one. She begrudgingly allowed me to have one, mainly because she always thought they were MEAN dogs.

Well I got a female from a breeder whom I researched really well prior to buying one. When I finally was able to pick her up, the wife decided to come along for the ride. Brought her to tears, in a way I KNEW I had the wife won over. The dog whimpered when I took her away from her brothers and sisters, so my wife wanted to hold her while I drove home. Instantly fell in love with her.

Now my Annie is 6 years old, and a good watch/guard dog, and loving companion. I would never trade her for anything.

Good on ya.
I wanted to rescue but personal needs required a particular breed.
I do support the shelter near by annually . They do an awfully good
job here in Phoenix with adoption runs supported by local news outlets.

Our outgoing sheriff was a huge supporter of
animal rights and arrested many for cruelty .

My pal is in my will to insure her future not be a hard one.

I spoke to the woman at the Pit Bull Rescue. She was saying that there are all of these people who want a Pit puppy when there are so many scheduled for euthenasia because someone got a puppy and changed their minds. Go to the damn shelter if you want a dog. There are a lot of really good ones there.

Mine suffered from my yelling out for to frequently .
Then Hillary lost and we both went back to normal.

On a serious note. They are so good for so many reasons and one of
those reasons I've come into contact with is the support they give for us
humans who have need of those supports another human can not fulfill.
That is an undeniable fact . The VA embraces this as fact 100% .
They have paid witness to it uncountable times.

Mine takes care of me. I take care of her.
Aren't they wonderful .

I couldn't agree more. Whenever adoption is and option then use it.
Pit's are the most misunderstood breeds out there. Their only problem
is ignorance of their owners.

Personally I believe owners need licensing more than dog's.

Personally, I think you are right. Although neither of us were K9, my old man was a cop, and I was an MP, so we have both worked with K9's. While Pits were not used, many of the Dobies and Rottweilers had the same misunderstanding problem back then. My little Heinz 57 is turning into a prick, kind of daring the neighbor's German Shepard to come over. Little asshole.

My previous dog came my way via a Marine Captain being deployed at the very beginning of
the first gulf war . She was a perfect , I mean perfect , Rottweiler . What an animal. She was
professionally trained prior to my getting her and followed the breeds M.O. to a tee.

I had to qualify before she became mine. Not that she was difficult by any stretch. It was
the Captains desire that I knew full well what the breed was all about including it's history
of being a Roman Legion multiple task dog. I read it twice to insure I would know how to
utilize this amazing creatures many well defined traits . I only had her about one year and
had to pass her on to a family member she loved and who had a large piece of property .
That was a very sad day . She lived a long and care filled life and left me many great memories.
