Slatten and Shirley and Marcy

When Slat was just a wee lad,his mother was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school.Now Slat was p***eful and didn't want his mother to walk with him.
His mother wanted to give him the feeling of being independent,but yet know that he was safe.
So she had an idea.she asked a neighbor,if she would follow little Slat to school in the A>M>and then follow him home after school,staying at a distance so he wouldn't notice her.
The neighbor agreed ,since she had a child of her own going to school,and it would give her exercise.
So the next school day the neighbor and her little girl set out following little Slat and a little girl that he walked with.
She followed them every day,to and from school for over a week.Them one morning as Slat and his friend were walking along,kicking at stones and twigs,Slat's little friend asked him
"Have you noticed that woman following us every day,do you know her?"
Little Slat replied"OH yeah,I know who she is.
His friend said "Then who is she,and why is she following us?"
Slat replied"That's just Shirley Goodnest and her daughter Marcy
"But why is she following us"The friend asked again
Slat said"Every night when I say my prayers,Mom makes me say the 23rd psalm,cause she worries about me so much,and in the psalm it says"Shirley Goodnest and Marci shall follow me
all the days of my life.So I guess I just have to get used to it!!
