The greatest commandment

This lesson must be important because it is in three gospels. It is found in Matthew 22:36 - 39, Mark 12:29 - 31, and Luke 10:27 & 28. In Matthew it is called the great commandment. In Mark it is called the first commandment, and in Luke a lawyer asks Jesus how he can inherit eternal life. We are to love God with all our heart, soul, body, and mind. (If we love Him, we will keep His commandments). We are to love our neighbors as ourselves. If you don’t want to be robbed, don’t steal. In the 10 commandments, the first four involve us and God. The last six are between us and everybody else. The final character trait that we develop as Christians is love. Love works no ill. If you love someone, you won’t kill them.

That's what it all boils down to. Loving God with our wholeselves and loving our neighbor as we do ourselves.
People try to complicate such an easy concept.
Thank you for bringing this up.

Correct, so who's will is being done, when all anyone hears about Christians, is hate, condemnation, censure and judgment? The most effective enemy agent, is one that doesn't realize he/she is an enemy agent. Our first mistake, continued in an unbroken line from Adam and Eve to today, is believing that we are smarter than Satan - but that stands to reason, since we think we're smarter than God as well. Whenever I discuss scripture with someone, and they start an argument with "I think...", I'm done with the conversation, I don't care what they "think", I care about what they believe. Sound confusing? It shouldn't, "thinking" is the human need to be in control of things being manifest, whereas belief stems from an honest search for the truth. Jesus explained that the Gospel was for everyone, but the deeper mysteries were only available to those who seek it in the correct manner, which is with humility, humbleness and a sincere request to the Holy Spirit, i.e. "in Spirit and in Truth".
