Labor Unions - Doing What They Do Best
Nov 27, 2016 09:27:17   #
Larry the Legend Loc: Not hiding in Milton

Once upon a time (many, many moons ago), there was a real purpose for ordinary work-a-day Americans to band together and negotiate with their various employers as a coherent group. Many good things came out of this arrangement. Fast-forward to today, and we find that those intrepid groundbreaking unions are not as they appear. In the distant past, unions were a benefit to the workers they represented. They took 'dues' and used this funding to hire people to represent their members in a myriad of topics and issues pertinent to the times (hours, wages, conditions, vacation time, benefits, etc.). Today, meh, not so much. Over the years, things changed to the point where unions have become more a burden than a benefit. Case in point:

http://dailysignal.com/2016/11/17/union-lets-workers-pensions-erode-keeps-money-for-its-own-employees/

Question: How the H-E-Doublehockeysticks, in a sane and rational world, are they able to do this?

How? All offices- President, IRS, EPA, DoJ, all the way to dog catcher are rife with corruption... Italy, Russia, Greece, etc., have nothing on us, in that dept.

So, what, I ask back, is keeping greedy, bent labor leadership from emulating the country's elected narcissists? Nothing.

I belong to the group the elite pencil necks call the 'little people', the working stiffs, and while (about every e******n time) those elites running for office tell us 'stiffs' how they "love and admire" us and how they are "in our corner". And, guess what, we believe them.. enough to v**e them back into office where they suck up the nation's wealth and mismanage ever thing they touch.

So, if we think of individual labor unions as miniature countries... well, there it is, don't you think? You have your classical 'working stiffs-- the little people' and you have your grasping, self-aggrandizing elites pocketing everything of value- including our child-like trust.

I, like most folks I have discussed this with, serve as a wind vane, a compass needle, pointing out the problem areas... but, so far I have met no one with the answers. . . . not even the slickest politician.

Quite right. The membership should never forget that those who clamor for attention and 'office' are nothing but blossoming minnie politicians. Just another 'hatch;' that must be watched as a viper in the field. Sure there was, maybe, one exception--- but I have yet to meet him or her.
