President Trump will be lot's different from the current community commander, recon. I'm sure the SS will just be getting in the way of Mr. Trump's private security forces, and even Mr. Trump's salary is said to be {self} taken-down to $1.00 a year. I believe the $billion - with a "B," BILLION DOLLAR GOLFING AND FAMILY/FRIENDS VACATIONS, will ALSO be just a BAD memory!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP!!! My question was not directed to a sitting president ,their security is obvious but past presidents more like Bush / Clinton and soon to be Obama ..

And why do elected officials get yearly pensions after they leave?? ? They don't do crap while they are there.

Do you mean why don´t these former presidents have the decency to step up to the plate, at a time when our nation is almost irretrievably in debt, and volunteer to reimburse our nation´s treasury, at least in part, for securing their own and their family´s well-being?

Even more so, when one considers the fact that in large part their wealth is directly traceable to the influence and contacts they have developed as a direct result of serving as the President of this great nation.

Just a thought: Because they, literally, perhaps, know where all the body´s are buried, we should not allow them to be subjected to torture.

In total fairness, most of them do leave office with white or at least whiter hair, than when they arrived, and the nation cannot afford to have them kidnapped or slaughtered on camera to benefit some terrorist organization´s P.R. outreach.

That's the real reason. Our former presidents have knowledge that must always be protected from our enemies. Unfortunately we have one and almost had another that believe we should share ALL our secrets with those who would do us harm. Maybe the secret service will some how manage to keep Obama from continuing to give away our national security after he leaves office.

When Truman left office he and Bess got into their own car and drove themselves back home to Missouri. No secret service detail. The Clintons had a building constructed on their property, paid for by taxpayers, to house their secret service detail. It doesn't end there. They then rent the building to the secret service and the income generated makes their house payment.
