Garrison Keillor offers a folksy warning to Trump v**ers, cold comfort for liberals
A lot of older white people in the upper Midwest helped make Donald Trump the next U.S. president on Tuesday, and another older white upper Midwesterner, Garrison Keillor, did not sugarcoat the blow to the Americans who v**ed for his opponent. "We liberal elitists are wrecks," he wrote in The Washington Post on Wednesday. And now that "a severely learning-disabled man with a real character problem will be president," millions of Americans exhausted by the long campaign "will take up leaf-raking and garage cleaning with intense pleasure."
"The Trumpers," on the other hand, "had a whale of a good time, waving their signs, jeering at the media, beating up protesters, chanting 'Lock her up,'" but now that their guy has won, he's "their problem now."
The Trumpers exulted in knowing we were tearing our hair out. They had our number, like a bratty kid who knows exactly how to make you grit your teeth and froth at the mouth. Alas for the Trump v**ers, the disasters he will bring on this country will fall more heavily on them than anyone else. The uneducated white males who elected him are the vulnerable ones, and they will not like what happens next....
We liberal elitists are now completely in the clear. The government is in Republican hands. Let them deal with him. Democrats can spend four years raising heirloom tomatoes, meditating, reading Jane Austen, traveling around the country, tasting artisan beers, and let the Republicans build the wall and carry on the trade war with China and deport the undocumented and deal with opioids, and we Democrats can go for a long, brisk walk and smell the roses. [Keillor, The Washington Post]

It amazes me how holier and smarter than thou everyone gets when they are on the side that apparently lost.😆
Everyone who v**ed for that person or that cause must be not as intelligent as I am! It makes me feel so good.
Why not try something positive instead and look for constructive ideas 💡 instead of being critical all the time?

The side that lost was the American people.

Make a list of the magic solutions he has and see how many crash and burn. It is understandable though, Barney Madoff conned a lot of very intelligent people and Trump was only able to con the slower people.

No, the American people won. It was the liberals and socialists who have been destroying this country over the past 8 years who lost. Get it right.

You damn right! We don't like socialists screwing up the country, evidently you do. Obama is a disaster, and his legacy will be "the worst president in U.S. history."

I think Trump's win is a good thing. It will teach us two key bits of crucial knowledge: V**es have consequences and pussy grabbers don't make good presidents and we deserve what we got. We will get to see and feel the consequences of our ignorance.

Assumption is so enlightening, isn't it??

How long has Bush been blamed for everything still wrong over that last 8 years??

Of course we will completely dismiss the natural attrition of left over administration deeds in that 8 year period too..

Yes, Trump v**ed in, it's already his fault ...Assuming there will be an issue of fault..

In you mind, there will NEVER BE an issue of Trump's fault. However there is a very bright side to Trump's e******n: we will have evidence to either support him or dismiss him. It will be clear and we will all feel the pain of the consequences of our actions. No more guessing gossiping , or parading misinformation. Will he build the wall? Will he make Mexico pay for the wall? Will he prevent all Muslims from entering the U.S.? Will he deport 13 million i******s? Will he privatize our public schools? Will he appoint Sarah Palin to the Supreme Court? Wait, pay attention, and learn.

Unfortunately, the famous story teller forgets, conveniently, that 8 disastrous years of failure, lies, uncontrolled spending, disastrous foreign policies, destruction of our military, radical and hedonistic social agenda, etc, etc, etc, by the Obama criminal organization requires someone like Trump to set the ship of state on the right course again.

Exactly right. No sense arguing with that faux elitist glaucon. Obama will be known as the first black President period. His one and only accomplishment which he actually had nothing to do with. Trump will not get a free pass from conservatives. We are the first to throw our members out when we catch them lying. Fools like glaucon consider lying and getting away with it a badge of honor. He is a miserable little punk and can only pray now for disaster so he can blame Trump and his supporters. He lost. To stupid to do it graciously, like most liberals. People like him always put ideology ahead of country. Sucks to be him.
