The MI -17 is a very capable helo and has proven itself in Afghanistan, and with all the irregularities in the Pentagon procurement system , this item is of little consequence

What is to say that American equipment isn't so designed also , we do it to cars right now , so what is the detraction of that ability , if it is even present , what if's are not facts

Russia and China both are not exactly "allies" and it would be simple to install a small indictable electronic device that could disable an aircrafts flight or fire control systems with just the "press of a button". It could be so sophisticated that it might take some time to isolate what was going on----what a cheap way of keeping an aircraft out of action. There could even be "backup" devices that could be activated by Russian or Chinese aircraft or ground radars, either to destroy an airplane or direct a missile to the craft.

I hope you don't mean by that remark that the Chinook is a bad chopper. ANY chopper can be shot down or any airplane. None of them can stand up to RPG's if it hits in the right place.

Having said that, Russia is the last place, next to China we should be going for military equipment of any kind. If this bright idea came from Obama, then this is just one more reason to impeach him.

Aren't these helicopters for Afghan Security Forces? Give them Russian junk and keep US equipment for American use.
