Now that the nations has elected the one candidate that is surely not a career politician as POTUS, will the trend continue in congress? Will we see Trump push for term limits with any sincerity? Are term limits a good or bad idea for congress?

Term limits is a great idea.
As for non pols being POTUS, much will depend on how Trump does.

Congress was never intended to be a career choice. Our founding fathers really dropped the ball on that one, but how could they have seen it coming? I'm sure they never even thought the situation would arise when congressional critters would hold their positions for life.

Donna-maybe a little difference. Senate- 2 -6yr terms House of Representatives: 6-2yr Terms . Would need a staggered implementation in order to maintain continuity. Regretfully, McConnell has already stated that term limits is a non-starter in the Senate. So it will be up to his constituents as to whether he stays or is recalled. Since he is a weak leader, the democrats in the Senate probably will want to retain him and will oppose having a stronger republican replace him. We shall see. Good Luck America !!!
