Guess who has been going around and warning religious people that this kind of thing is about to happen again, memBrain? Me, an atheistic person. There are Atheists with a capital A and then there are atheistic people like me with a little a. I am not religious at all. I just cannot have faith in things that are unseen and unknowable.

I will make your statement even simpler. There are good people, and there are evil people. The difference is easy to tell by their actions. It's usually as simple as "more freedom for me" vs. "more freedom for all". Any person who wishes to limit liberty of another is in my book evil.

Quote:
I am not religious at all. I just cannot have faith in things that are unseen and unknowable.
Therein lies the essence of faith. If it's something seen and knowable, then it's a fact, and faith is unnecessary.

To quote the Bible on faith:
Quote:
Hebrews 11:1
King James Version (KJV)

11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
alternatively, a more modern t***slation:
Quote:
Hebrews 11:1
New Living T***slation (NLT)

11 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
I can't imagine many scientists without faith. Faith sometimes runs into fact, and must accept that some things are not naturally possible with current means.

To a non-believer, it would appear so. I have low expectations for you, but the t***h is most people do not truly understand what real faith is...even though they often demonstrate faith by their actions, knowingly or unknowingly.

I see, only you and a few select others understand what faith really is. If your low expectations for me concern my converting to what ka-ka-may-me religion you would have me join, your low expectations are accurate. The big question remains: "How do you know what you think you know ?"

Anyone who blatantly disregards faith proves by default their lack of understanding. I need say no more on the subject because nothing I say or do will change that fact.

End time Biblical prophecy says that there will only be a remnant of believers. Consequently, I can hardly expect everyone to convert. So, as for your not converting, while your personal decision saddens me, it does not surprise me. It is your choice, and you are free to make it. Right or wrong, you have to live with the consequences of that decision.

Spoken with the true smugness of a true believer. Don't let my lack of conversion "sadden" you. You have no psychological investment in me, and you certainly aren't really "saddened." That line is just the usual stand of condescending Christians. (I have known a few Christians who are NOT condescending. They are the ones who tend to think.)

The main argument of atheists is that their position is based on reason. That is impossible. One of the main rules of logic is that you cannot prove the negative. How is it possible to prove that their exists any being that exists outside of nature. Atheism is as much of a belief based on faith as theism.

How wrong you are. First of all, there's no smugness attached to my statement. Secondly, while I personally do not know you, you are still my neighbor. As such I do have a concern for you. You truly do not know what you are talking about when you speak of Christianity.

Amen to that!

You have placed me in the atheist basket, when in fact you should be categorizing me as an agnostic. I just don't have the overbearing p***e that Christians have when they claim to "know."

"P***e goeth before a fall." It's not overbearing p***e. It's faith. Faith is the hallmark of the whole Christian existence. Unless you experience it, you can never understand it.

That's nonsense. It is p***e and arrogance, pure and simple. You think you know something, you deny most of the rest of humanity because they believe something different, and you cannot figure out that when you are all claiming you are right while you believe different things, a lot of you are wrong. I guess since you cannot face the reality, you must take refuge in the word "faith." Nonsense by any other name would still be nonsense.

Your opinion, not a fact.

What we have is denied to no one. It is freely given to those who receive it. That you don't understand, or even reject it is your problem, not ours.
