Rain delay is a major disappointment.

I'm an American League fan, but I got'ta pull for the Cubs. To wait since 1908 to win another World Series has got'ta be tough on the psyche of their fans. But, both teams deserve a ring, so it's hard to root against either...1948 is a long time ago, also.

YEEEESSSSS. Wow, what a game, what a series. Yes Slatten, I agree. One must give a thumbs up to Cleveland. Both teams played great and fans on both sides should be proud of their teams. I must admit, it would have been awesome for Cleveland as well. To have NBA and MLB champs in the same year would have been super for them. But surly glad it was my Cubbies.

Congratulations to you and all the long-suffering Cub fans, Righty Bask in your all-encompassing glory.

I've been a Yankee fan all my life and in the World Series, I've usually pulled for the AL team, including even when it was the h**ed Red Sox. This was because growing up in New York City, I constantly was badgered by New York Giant & especially Dodger fans that the National League was so much better than the American League. And they'd go so far as to say that the Yankees couldn't play in the NL, as the Yanks would play the Giants, Phillies, Dodgers & Braves to a stand still. I am glad the Cubs got that monkey off their backs but next year, it's back to the Yankees and AL.

Incidentally, Cleveland possibly with two world champion teams would hardly have been unprecedented. New York had the Mets and Jets from their 1969 seasons. Has there ever been a triple of NFL, MLB & NBA or a quadruple, adding the NHL?

No triple, though. In 1969, the Knicks knocked off the Bullets in the playoffs, I think in 4 straight but were later eliminated. That was the beginning of the Knicks-Bullets rivalry/feud, headlined by Walt Frazier & Wes Unseld, both incredible players. I think the Celtics won it all but that was a triple contest for one season with the super Bowl being played in January or early February 1970.

True enough, but there was no NBA in 1935, when Detroit claimed the NFL, MLB and NHL all in that same year...according to the top chart.

Very good. I missed that one on my skim and that's a triple by what I meant. No quadruple, though.

You have to be referring to Carl Yazstrzemski, the great Red Sox left fielder. He followed and filled right in for/after Ted Williams retired. I remember his high bat-in-the-air stance. His 1967 MVP/Triple Crown season was magical.
