Sheriff Joke Arpaio was just criminally charged with contempt of court for his continuous harassment of people of Hispanic descent against court orders and a consent decree he agreed to and signed. Jokes foolishness has already cost Arizona taxpayers 50 million dollars to defend his criminal behavior. Now Joke will likely get a taste of jail for himself... as an inmate.

Don't celebrate yet.... as you know, "A court of the United States shall have power to punish by fine or imprisonment, or both, at its discretion, such contempt of its authority, and none other, as— (3) Disobedience or resistance to its lawful writ, process, order, rule, decree, or command." And this means that he will be slapped with a fine, if, and that is the key word here...If, prosecutor can prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he disobeyed the court’s order. The sheriff does face a sentence of up to six months in jail; however, he has no criminal record and he is 84. He would undoubtedly have numerous witnesses that would testify as to his character and that he has spent a lot of years of his life keeping criminals off the street. Bottom-line, he will get a slap on the hand and maybe a fine, but not jail. In fact, he is running for sheriff again.... and the polls have him leading by double digits. Under Arizona state law he cannot be removed from office with a misdemeanor conviction and I would be surprised if this would rise to the level of a felony. And if he is fined, he has enough supporters that he will not have to pay one red cent. As for his reputation.... not many in his district see him as anything other than a martyr, a hero.
