As a gift, I wanted to help those who read Revelation to be able to understand it.
Revelation is a History Book, the long and grueling trek through time of the Christian Faith, from dictatorship within itself in ancient times, to a land of Freedom to worship our Lord God without persecutions and death. Also, it is God's build up to his Promise to Israel, fulfilled.

It is not a book to be taken lightly at all, no more than the rest of the Holy Bible is. It is a prophecy given of Jesus Christ to his beloved Apostle John, that is for us now Christian and Israel's History.
I will start at 'Revelation 1:10," where T***h itself is a scar in Mother Earth herself. Jesus Christ's lineage goes all the way back to Adam, formed of Mother Earths very ground. When Jesus Christ was crucified, Mother Earth lost her Beloved Child as well.
John the Baptist was Jesus Christ 1st cousin, last of the line of the Pure Levitical Priestshood through both is parents.

"10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, "

See here in this Map of the Middle East, where Israel's boundaries form the "TRUMPET", and the Jordons boundaries, where John the Baptist taught Repentance, and Baptism, then was beheaded with an "AXE."
I'll stop for a bit after this, and then continue with Revelation Highlights, where you will be able to understand the rest.

Sorry bmac. As comparrisons to OT and NT are needed, I will give them so nothing gets left uncovered or unsupported. This whole thing won't be long and drawn out, just a few days actually. But, it will be thorough and complete. I am glad you have taken interest. Thank you!

Another thought about Revelation is, it is about a message to those Christians who were going through severe persecution in Rome. Encouragement in code and the book also is interpreted with the book of Daniel. Just an aside. God Bless your thoughts. The Bible is taught by the Holy Spirit thro much prayer.
