I'm a Vet. Twice now I have been scheduled for a colonoscopy and twice my wife has refused my appointment because of the drive about 120 miles from here. I told my buddy Ralph about this and that I was going to give the V A my cell phone number and tell them not to talk with my wife. That's when he told me about Vets helping Vets. He told me of two appointments he had and that I should ask for a colonoscopy on the dates of his appointments. The deal is the VA will accommodate me in this way so I can have a driver for on the way home.. He told me about John and Jerry and Fred and how they all help each other that way. I'm friends with all these guys and had no idea they were helping each other and that lots of Vets did this. I wish I would of known this a long time ago. If you are a Vet and faced with a similar situation check and see if other Vets in your area are doing this. It sure is going to help me.

Good luck on the colonoscopy results Coos.

Much love for the state of Oregon and all who live there.

Been doing it for years Tom. Still do . Some time back I drove a DAV Van for a couple of years on the same day from Yuma to Tuscon and back 2 or 3 times per week . Many days the van was packed.
We do what needs being done for one another. This stage of life is quite a bit like back in the day in that respect.

May all your polyps be benign.

Geez Tom. Hope everything turns out O.K. for you. Around my parts of the woods, we have DVA (Disabled Veterans) and they help with vans set up for t***sporting anyone in a chair, but they will also pick up regular vets to and from the VA when someone needs a ride. I am not sure it they have any sort of structured group aside from that who will put vets together for share riding or just flat out giving someone a ride, but now after reading what you posted I think I will go see some of the veteran groups and if they do not have something going like it, suggest and help it happen. Thanks and again, hope everything turns out good for you.

I've always been go it alone never asking help from anyone. I knew I could take a Van from the veterans clinic here to Rose burg but I would have to work with their schedule and spend a night or two in the hospital. I didn't want that. After spending 8 weeks in A VA hospital in Walla Walla many years back I never want to stay in a hospital again. The care was good But the reaper comes by and I did not like seeing it.
