Judas Escariot - Was he repentive?

When Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss and delivered Him onto the appointed "priests", Aka the sons of the first murderers. Judas eyes were opened and he realized that he betrayed an innocent man, he then went back to the Temple and cast the 40 pieces of silver. The sons of the devil took the blood money and bought the Potters field. Judas had gone out and hung himself, but as we read in Acts 1:18, he fell headlong and burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. I think that the "priests" took some men with swords to ensure that Judas wasn't able to survive his hanging by cutting his stomach to spill his intestines out. Dr John Lightfoot ( 1602-1675 ) referrenced on the woman who wanted to hang herself in the Apocrypha. These books were In between the Old and New Testament in the Older King James 1611 Bibles. It's in the Book of Tobin, who was from the Tribe of Naphtali and had a son named Tobias. (3:8 ) the woman had married 7 suitors but an evil demon named Asmodeus was killing the husbands before they could be together after their marriage. She thought about hanging herself, probably by the influence of the evil demon of satan. Another instance from a hanging can be found in 2 Sam. 17:23, Ahithophel, a counselor to Absalom, had pride and failed in smiting David that he hung himself. So if you don't call and trust in the Lord, you put your fate into the questionable future. In Psalms 55:14-15 talks about trusting in people, and in Matt. 6:24 says that you cannot serve God and Mammon, Think God.

When Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss and delivere... (show quote)

Only GOD can judge the heart of a man.
We may never know in our earthly life.
You are correct. Man cannot serve two masters.

Judas is our greatest example of the sin of pride. He betrayed Jesus. So did Peter, so do most Christians in one way or another through their sins every day. There are only two types of sinners, those who seek forgiveness and those who do not. Judas thought that what he had done was so terrible that even Jesus couldn't forgive him - the ultimate sin of pride. People still kill themselves because they believe they are so bad that Jesus cannot forgive them or they are too embarrassed to ask. And lest we forget, pride is part of every sin. Furthermore, Judas knew who Jesus was, that he was the expected messiah.

The Christ Jesus Was as a lamb led to be slaughtered for our sins, and since Judas cast the silver back into the "den of thieves" and cried 'I've betrayed an innocent man', I think Christ went back and used the keys of hell and the grave to redeem Judas. But you're right, we won't know till we are deemed worthy and make it to Heaven with God through Christ. Amen

Judas was the money holder, and was dipping into the money bag, so the sin of greed was already in his heart, John 12:4. But the devil was working to influence the other disciples but this was the first time and it was Judas, the second was in Matt. 26:9 and the cancer of sin had spread to some or all of the disciples. Sin will take you farther than you want to go, make you stay longer than you want to stay, and do more than you might have done. Judas E. thought he could usher in the Heaven age by having Jesus fight the Romans with his Army of Angels, thus ensuring a position of being the money bearer or other seat of power. But of course Jesus and God weren't ready for that time, Luke 4:17- 4:30. Isaiah 61:1-2, if He would have kept reading, it would be the second advent, Isa 61:2.. and the day of vengeance of our God: to comfort all that morn. I believe that the day is around the corner.

Suicide is an act of selfishness. So I don't see how he could have asked for forgiveness. There is also the fact that he was replaced by Paul, to bring the total back up to twelve.

Yes,'when he took his own life by hanging himself, he deprived God the many years of being a christian witness for Christ. That would be one point on the basis of forgiveness. As for who replaced Judas E., That written in Acts 1:23-26. Matthias what approve by God when they prayed for advise. Saul of Tarsus, Acts 7:58 is Paul but he wasn't converted till later when Jesus talked to him, Acts 9:4. Acts 13:9 Saul who also called Paul.
