And what proof do you have of this claim? Unlike alcohol, tobacco, and a good amount of prescription drugs, no one has ever died from cannabis.
Sure, you could say it is no good for yourself, but to think that such a general statement is true across the board is very erroneous.
There are some people who need cannabis to battle some sicknesses that there has not been found any other treatment as good, there are some people who use cannabis as a tool for meditation as a way to help them face some awful happenings in their lives, some cultures think of it as a religious tool, there are even some people who used cannabis for the ropes of a parachute to help them when a plane is going down (i.e.. George Bush), and there are some important documents which were written on it as well (the original Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution).
Did you know that the main reason this society has been taught the erroneous information about cannabis being bad is because some very rich people saw the plant as in their way from making a lot more money (Dupont when they invented nylon), and now the American Pharmaceutical Association sees it in their way of selling drugs to fight diseases that cannabis has been found to fight better?
And the second biggest lobbyist to keep it illegal is the prison guard union, because the victimless criminal, the cannabis smoker, is by far, the most peaceful and best behaved convict to guard in prison.
In actuality, it is not "pot" which is bad for you, but the laws against using and possessing it which are bad for you, and can do you wrong.

Caviat - have never tried pot or any other illegitimate drug, but if we criminalize everything that is bad for you, what does that leave us? It didn't work with alcohol and it isn't working with pot. I can make the case that surgery is bad for you, that certain medications are bad for you, that traveling in California is bad for you, that having an oppressive government is bad for you. We need fewer laws, PARTICULARLY those that try to control behavior. If I want to hurt myself, who are you to say I cannot? For instance, I don't believe for one minute that pot is any more dangerous than is pro football or pro ice hockey. Freeways are more dangerous than pot. Anybody calling for the criminalization of them? No? Only because they are things that society approves of - nothing to do with freedoms. Americans are too loose about protecting their freedoms. One day you will wake and all of them will be gone - and it won't be because of pot. It will be because of the US Congress, the US Courts, and the US President.

NO, NO, NO That about says it all. Well almost. Here is why I say NO. The chemical that gives the high in marijuana is called THC. This chemical is stored for up to 30 days in the human body. In the male it is stored in the "sperm". That is nothing as sperm is remade constantly. But in the female it is stored in her ovaries. This is where her eggs for babies is stored. Think just a little. For 30 days THC is destroying or mutilating her eggs. NOW, she is born with every eggs she will ever have. NO MORE EGGS. Then we have a big big problem. Still born, deformed, you can use your own thinking. And along with the poor girls you have the cost to Tax payers. NO, NO, NO for MARIJUANA.

Are you sure of your facts re the effects of pot on the unborn? I am NOT defending marijuana, but I AM defending freedom, and it MATTERS if what you say is true or is not true. I have done very little research for this as marijuana has been in heavy use for about half a century now, and while I do see some very, very stupid people parading around, and while I know some babies, from the beginning of time, are stillborn, I don't believe I have ever had good reason to believe that marijuana has been the cause. And frankly, I don't think the experts know either.

Thank you Tasine, Facts are what people are missing. If you are interested in research check out what Dr. Lester Grimspoon says about this wonder plant. He is a retired professor from Harvard University, and another thing to research is the amount of Cannabis that our grandparents used up to 1936 then outlawed, is amazing in an extract form in numerous medicines, and by 1940 how cancer started blooming just 3 years after outlawing the substance from pharmaceuticals. Me personally I think this plant has been studied more than any other plant in History and because it is a herb and can not be patented our own government, big pharma, the oil industry, paper industry, have nothing to gain and everything to lose that they would lie to the people about the safety. I have more faith in educated people like DR. Grimspoon and many others in the marijuana industry than I do in my Own Government.

Until about 10 years ago, I had great faith in my government and I respected those in it. Now I have neither faith nor trust in it. Primarily it has become an oppressive, controlling money burner that we could easily do without. I don't like the way it picks and chooses what to censor and what to mandate. No way to run a decent government.

I hear you in respects to how you feel, I too love and respect our service men and women, but what I feel about the old red, white and blue is not what it was either, and I have young children and I hope my attitude is not reflecting on them, mostly due to my own lack of responsibility educating others about the wrongs going on in government, I'm trying to communicate with others today, trying to stay united and I feel that as long as the ties that bind us together as a nation are stronger than those that would tear us apart all will be well . This is in my prayers anyways.

It's tough. Amazingly there are millions who feel exactly the way WE feel - it's just that none of us has any power except a single v**e once in a while. If we do not pull together, we will lose. We MUST stay united, even when some issues may tend to pull us apart. What we MUST NOT DO is give up any more of our individual freedoms. They are all that make us the America we have lived in all our lives.
