Today I had some time on my hands and I have wanted to buy a turkey gun for some time as there are lots of them in my county. Just on a whim I stopped by a pawn shop and found one close to what I wanted. I was looking for a 20 gauge but found a good buy on a 16. Well I filled out the paperwork and was told there was an hour wait as there were 60 people ahead of me. I screwed around for an hour looking for shells which I found so I decided the 16 gauge would be alright. When I returned the guy at the shop told me that the website was overwhelmed by several gun buyers and that the website had shut down for upgrades. That means I wait till Monday. He told me that every time there is a mass shooting that gun sales go crazy. No body is going to take our guns but people want to take no chances. This seems like a conspiracy to me. Gun manufacturers are cashing in big time and I think they like it that way. I have never had trouble like this buying a gun before so I would say that background checks must be pretty extensive. There is r****m involved too. They wanted to know if I was Mexican or Latino as that sends up a red f**g. They told me it was because of the fast and furious operation. Geeze all I want to do is go turkey hunting. What will happen next?

This is not just a issue in your area, it's going down like this everywhere. And even when this last year hunting season, you have to do things online in my State, the "system" was not processing due to being over loaded....go figure...a three day wait!

I'm still using one of grandpa's Sears and Roebuck 20 guages.

Fall turkey season for Comanche county starts November fifth.

I might get a couple this year if at all possible.

I'll never need to buy another gun as long as I live.

I started, my run on guns way back in the early 90s.

Good luck with your hunting. I sold quite a few guns to get through college and I decided it was the biggest mistake I ever made. I took forestry and the spotted owl screwed me out of a carreer

Crazy . Heck I bought a lot of guns over the counter and only had to wait for a hand gun. I'll just buy from private parties after this.

Coos Bay Tom - Im not sure if you were refering to the most recent shooting in a mall but, some fella within the last day or so just lit up 4 girls and a guy and all died. The girls died on the spot and the guy died in the hospital. I can tell you that the percentage of women purchasing mostly handguns has spiked dramatically over the last almost 8 years. More specifically, over the last year, year and a half. The crime in the country has gotten outrages for sure. Although the number of homicides has declined. This according to the latest FBI statistics has been directly attibuted to more good people with firearms. The MSM will not report any of this simply because it does not further their sickening agenda. Its amazing to me that if the MSM's real agenda was to push gun control it is failing miserably and I agree that I cant think of any way for the government to just institute marshall law and try a gun consfication. I just cannot see the people of this country just saying ok, here take my guns. I also dont beleive that the police and or the military would even want to try. It would be horrible for them and the law biding public. Besides, I would say with the few exceptions of those in law enforement that specifically are dirt bags that enjoy their percieved power over their counties populations. Even then I dare say they would be run out of town as they and their famiilies would be at severe risk. In any event I'm starting to ramble on now about stuff you are already aware of so my apologies. Take good care.

It wasn't r****m, tom, it was common sense. LE has told gun dealers to pay special attention to Latinos and ME types shopping for guns. Make sure they are who they say they are. Surely you understand the reasons for this.

I******s, mostly Latino (Hispanic) are responsible for 30% of murders in some large cities. The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that between 2008 and 2014, 35% of the all murder convictions were i*****l a***ns. Plus in 2015, ICE released almost 20,000 criminal i******s, 208 of whom are convicted murderers.

Watch your six, tom.

Good post. I live in Coos county. We are the only county in the nation that forbids the Sheriffs department from enforcing any new gun laws that come up

I lived in Selma for a while. Part of that time I worked in Coos Bay for an outfit called MF Timber Stand Improvement. They sure had the name right, especially the MF part.

I never heard of that company unless it was Menasha. Now days the Mexicans do it all. Lazy White boys seem to do nothing and whine about no jobs. I did hire one of those no belt wearing their wallet on his leg hat turned around as a favor and I got a over weight weak and non thinking dummy who was 32 and never held a job in his life. I nick named him "Resting Bull". He likes it. I use him rarely. He is the exact opposite from his father who over protected him and spoiled him.

You mean "Resting Bulls**t?" I remember we busted our humps for nine cents a tree, planting Doug firs. You could make some pretty good money if you were willing to work like hell. That was the second worst job I ever had, (the first worst being married to my ex. ) Actually, the hardest and most unpleasant job I had was working on a long line boat. Both paid well, they just sucked otherwise.
