Take a safe ride with the Blue Angels. The pilot is chewing gum and has some funny facial expressions.

Footage courtesy of the U.S. Navy & the Blue Angels

Ever wonder what "Pure Awesome" looks like? Wonder No More.

This may be one of the best...

Video runs 3:44. For Sure Go Full Screen....

Guys...this footage is of the "slot man" in the Diamond formation...toughest flying due to wingtip vortices, etc...when he "smiles", he is pulling some serious positive/ negative "g" forces.

WOW! What a ride! Notice the rest of the formation in the Pilot's reflective goggles!

Sound up, open video link and click 'Play' arrow:

Unfortunately, the Blue Angels are a mere shadow of what they used to be. I saw them before they eliminated certain maneuvers from their show, because they were too dangerous. They're still pretty good, but they used to awesome.

I think they had to slow down a tad after pilling up so many dead bodies of their pilots and I agree they aren't what they used to but like a soldier in a hot zone or a cop the main objective is going home to your family and friends at the end of a day.

True. At least I had the chance to see them in their prime. I'll never forget it.

Thanks I couldn't remember that. We have had the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels here and they are both excellent air shows and the Thunderbirds were the loudest as I can remember.

Was that before or after the Blue Angels got the F-18's? As I remember it, the Blue Angels were louder.

That would explain it. Those F-18's are really loud.

I don't know if we are having an air show next summer or not. If the swedes son't screw it up like they did this year it may be wonderful but who knows. Will wait and see. Do the USAF jets have only one jet engine as compared to the F-18's having two?

I believe you are correct. Those F-18's are amazing, even though they are outdated. Their engines are powerful enough to go vertical, all the way to the edge of space. Well. Almost. A winged rocket.
