FREE WILL -- PICK & CHOOSE
There are really only two ways to approach life - as a victim or as a gallant fighter - a victor if you will. You get to decide if you will act, ...... or react; deal your own wild cards, or play against what seems to be, a stacked deck. Being the victim, is, ( or was ), uncomfortable & quite familiar to many of us. Perhaps some of us are only now realizing we have a choice in what we choose, that we need not let life just happen to us. Becoming responsible to ourselves, ...... choosing different behaviors, beliefs, new friends, new activities, things that please please us, & others, though unfamiliar at first, ...... soon exhilarates us. The more right choices we make, the more right & alive we feel. The more right & alive we feel, the healthier our choices. It becomes a progressive upward life cycle.
Our aim is recovery. Recovering means participating fully in our lives & the choices we are offered. It means self-assessment and self-direction ....... with input & help from our new found friends. It means trusting to move forward, step-by-step, choice-by-choice, saying yes to all good things, while knowing all the while, deep within, that no rightly thoughtful action can trouble us.
Many opportunities to make choices will present themselves today & all my days that follow :
If I make the right choices, those choices will satisfy me; they will move me toward my goal of recovery & a life worth living. I will then be a true victor, for I will have conquered myself. - Karen Casey
