Truly beautiful. I was watching humpbacks calving in Hawaii a few years back and they are both interesting as well as very intelligent creatures,

Fascinating video Don. I bet that was absolutely thrilling to see so close.
I did notice the water was turning a little brown around those kayaks!

Really great video, Don. What a VERY grateful whale. Animals are strange, but some actually seem to have a cognisance of humans providing help. I had put a chain-link fence in my backyard in a few days, and I must have blocked an opossum trail. A morning after I'd put the fence up, I noticed a rather large {10 lb.?} something that seemed to be jammed under the bottom of my fence. I got closer, and saw it was an opossum, firmly stuck between the ground and the pointed bottom of the wire fence. I've seen opossum teeth before {really big and sharp, as is their normal wild attitude}, and although I thought it may be dead, I got some heavy-duty gloves to see if I could hand-pry it out. Very carefully I held the opossum's back, realized that he/she was barely clinging to life, and I spent the next half hour trying to un-jam it without ending-up with a very dangerous wild animal bite. I did, and eventually freed the opossum, and let him/her waddle away on the outside of the fence. The opossum got about 10 feet away, looked back at me, nodded it's head, and I could swear he/she winked at me in appreciation, waddled away, and never to be seen again. I'll never forget that fast look of total gratitude. Interesting!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUMP!!!

Yes, it was rather thrilling, Don. And speaking of opossum's, I had two big Tibetan Mastiffs {120 lbs. and about 90 lbs., sisters from the same liter} awhile back, {1983?}, and I had let them out into my chain-linked fenced back yard, overlooking a pond. Well, an opossum had just come from behind the bushes in the yard, and the two dogs charged the strange little {12 lb.?] creature like greased lightning. As I tried to stop the possibly deadly encounter, the opossum just kept waddling, seemingly unconcerned, stopped for just a moment, turned his/her face to face my dogs, and the wild {almost wolverine} look on the opossum's face, the totally wild, now glaring eyes, the size of the huge gleaming white teeth {and suddenly snarling attitude}, made both my Mastiff's re-consider the entire situation. They skidded to a stop in unison, turned around, and rather quickly decided that opossum hunting was not on their immediate list of things-to-do. Interesting. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUMP!!!
